Scout has Armand Williams ranked 205 at WR and Emfinger has him as a top 5 WR. What's the deal

Em saw him in person, Scout did not Is my guess..

It does make you wonder if this stuff really is just about selling subscriptions

Williams blew up Emfinger's camp. Thus, Emfinger has him much higher than the other raters. Did Williams have a superhuman day, or are the rest of the talking heads missing the boat on a diamond in the rough? I guess we'll find out...

AW had no one to throw him the ball. Very evident in his film. Can't say anything bad about Max,cause he definately put AW's name out there with his combine and Allstar game.

Partially, but at the same time, everyone needs to realize how many prospects there are across the country. A private entity only has so many resources for evaluation. Some guys simply slide under the radar.

Especially someone in a run oriented system.

Lynx I agree, if we look at the top 10 in recruiting every year, it's usually the same teams in the final top 10 in the polls...so it matters

Exactly. Buzz creates more buzz. One good write up usually brings others, which turns into a feeding frenzy.

However, if there no buzz generated or it comes too late, dozens of very talented recruits fall through the cracks. There's at least 100,000 high school football players for every Scout or Rivals evaluator.

Scout doesn't steal money from families either.

Emfinger rated Curley's 1992 class as #1 in the country. Have a nice day.

Film on Williams isn't that impressive, which is most likely all Scout has to rate him on.

I'm guessing he's somewhere in the middle.

I trust some one who has seen him in person against other top receivers vs some one who watches some film.

It was a great class. Max has seen more kids over the years than anyone. Lee Brecheen with La. Football Magazine is another one who has seen many kids play.

Most of those so called paid scouts look at tons of film and base their ranking, that along with whos giving the offers.

You can put your faith in a bunch of statrats or some one who actually evaluated the guy in person. If Armand plays for a bad team how can he build stats? Armand played for a bad team, I have seen his athletic ablity, he is the real deal and will be a great Tiger!
