This is good news. I know Sage hasn't been the 5 star impact player we all expected but he is serviceable and experienced and at the moment, thats better than any other option we have.

Put him at nickel with a better surrounding cast and better coaching and he's going to be just fine.

I thought he struggled at Nickle a whole lot more than at boundary corner.

If Sage is starting next year you can expect more of the same from the Defense. Buddy just doesn’t have it. would have benefited both parties for him to move to lower competition.

I think discipline was so poor across the board in our zone that the nickel position really stood out as the weakness, but I think if we fix those issues he'll be better. He was completely lost at nickel so he was playing flat footed a lot. Just a really bad coaching job IMO. He just doesn't have the frame to be a great boundary corner IMO and has hit a ceiling there.

But yes, I agree he performed better there.

Regardless, I'm glad he's coming back. He knows the system better than a year ago and will be a plus for the team.

He needs better coaching plain and simple. He’s terrible at tackling and coverage. Constantly taking bad angles. At this point in his career he should be doing those things a whole lot better.
The talent is there somewhere, we just need a coach to pull it out of him.

Need someone who doesn't shy away from contact at NB.

Was the grass not greener on the other side for him? I’m not afraid to say that I was happy Sage was leaving. Consistently underwhelming, regardless of position

When you don't know where to go, it's easy to look like you are shying away from contact. He had no decisiveness because of coaching. I truly think you throw him in Kirby Smart or Saban defense with strong position coaching and scheme and the guy is a solid player. He has the athleticism. I don't think the same can be said for someone like Major Burns.

I have faith better coaching and supporting cast makes Sage look like a totally different player. He would flash solid play. It's deep down there somewhere

Guy has played his butt off for our Tigers. Hasn't lived up to the 5 Star hype, granted. However he's a tiger and has the potential to do well with better coaching. He could shine this season. Don't udnerstand all the glad he's gone and grass isn't greener replies. We need good players, and he certianly could be just that. Looks bad when we destroy our current players.

Thanks for sticking to your commitment to the team Sage.

Hasn’t been the player we thought,(being nice) what games are you watching? He has been missing tackles and taking bad angles all year.Ready to say goodbye to him and now he’s staying. Mark me down as somebody that was ready to say good riddance.

Or maybe he got LSU to offer more when they realized they weren’t getting portal CBs they thought they would.

I completely agree with this. The tackling issues are exacerbated by players being out of position and then trying to make up ground and taking bad angles. If you are in the right spot and not having to think about what you are doing you can play more instinctive and tackling improves.

How do you not understand those types of responses? Saying he played his arse off in my opinion is worse than saying he just didn’t care. If he played his arse off, the fact that he didn’t contribute diddly-poo to a historically atrocious defense is sad.

What makes you think he has the potential? He has been granted countless opportunities and has consistently not performed.

This is one of the stupidest comments I have ever read and this is a website with miles and miles of stupid. Thats pretty impressive sir.

He was by far one of the better players on that atrocious defense. so this comment doesn't hold weight either. I am not saying he was good this past season but if we had 11 guys that played at Sage Ryan 2023 levels, we would be in the playoffs.
