I'm from a small town in North Louisiana. You described a lot of the same things I've seen with the best athletes in my hometown. I'm talking about guys who made all-state in track (9.9 100 yards), basketball & baseball. Didn't play football senior year because of a suspension (we went from 9-3 to 3-7). Had tryouts with the Astros and Yankees. Worked for the city before he ended up in federal prison with his brother who was 6'4" 230 in 10th grade and didn't play sports. These guys would have graduated in 1977 and 1979 if they had made it through high school so this stuff isn't new either .
