I live in Cincinnati, and this morning, I was in Kroger and got a "nice shirt" from a local when he saw my LSU shirt. Made a little small talk about the game today, and then he asked me if I was an alumnus, or knew anyone in the athletic department. I said I was, a knew exactly where this was going.
Long story short, this mans son is a stud receiver for St.Xavier here in Cinci (BIG athletic school), and his son has been contacted by Ohio St., Kentucky, TN, Cinci, Nebraska, and a host of other BCS schools. However, he really likes LSU, and has made that known. He is still junior, but based on newspaper and internet articles he is legit.
Trey Kilgore - couple of paragraphs down
Now what are the ramifications of me speaking to my contact within the athletic department, and giving him this young mans information. I have season tickets, however they are technically in my mother in laws name (she pays, and I pay her back). Is there any problems with me passing this information along, or should I just anonymously send a letter to my contact with the info. Am I considered a booster? I would hate to get LSU in trouble, but would hate it if we missed out on a quality player who WANTS to come to LSU.
I can't get talk to my contact right now due to game, but I wanted to get the boards opinion before I talked to them anyway.
GEAUX TIGERS!!

Happens to me all the time at my son's AAU basketball games. But I just slip them some $ and my card.
Just kidding. Reality is not too many seem overly interested in our program. We have to give TJ some time to turn it around.
Sounds pretty harmless. Not like you are some big booster or even a season ticket holder.
Our recruiting, while primarily Louisiana heavy, is pretty universal and always helps when out of state kids have interest.

I've seen some articles about the kid and have talked to very good OSU guy about him and from all indications we have been in correspondence with Kilgore. The OSU guy also said the same as the OP,Kilgore really likes LSU.I'm sure we'll keep tabs on him but it seems at this point at least that we're trying to figure out where all the instate kids for next year fit before really pushing for oos kids aside from a select few. From what I hear Kilgore is a good prospect.
Also as long as you're just passing contact info and not recruiting the kid aside from basic "go to LSU" stuff you should be fine in regards to the compliance stuff. In all honesty the NCAA would never know about that unless some shady stuff was going on.

Well, I asked his dad if LSU had been in contact, and he said they had not. Maybe they have not been putting the full press on him, so that is what he meant.
Thanks for the links. Looks pretty good. Might have to catch a St.X game soon.

Tell him to send his DVD to Frank Wilson and to come to a camp this summer. That is where the staff really makes a decision about a lot of their recruits.

You are okay and can contact anyone at LSU and let them know the guy has an interest in the program. The problems come in when you try to contact the prospect directly as a representative of the University. So, let the coaches handle it after that.

Sounds like a legit story. He said he wants to get away for college so if this all works out and you get the process started you should feel pumped.
