We are not running a 3-4, straight from the mouths of Steele and Ed 0. We will have some 3-4 sets, but the base will be 4-3.

I don't doubt it...we don't have the depth to do it yet, but I'd bet good money that we are 75% 3-4 by next summer if current recruiting is any indication...

He is bigger than every safety on our roster other than Corey Thompson, who is 218 lbs.

Or Steele just takes a different approach to the 4-3 than Chavis.

If he's not good enough then they definitely should not pursue him. I guess I was thinking that at 6'4, 215 he could redshirt and be a 6'4, 240 DE next year.

Steele isn't looking for 215 lb outside linebackers

You sure? Clifford Chatman is listed at 6'4" 175 and they're saying he'll play LB at LSU.

2 things about Chatman: 1. He's currently a safety at McDonough and projects at safety or linebacker
2. His frame (especially for someone just turning 17) is what they're looking at. He has the time to grow into a 3-4 olb and still maintain that speed since he's a db by trade. Wallace and Chatman totally different situations.

I'll add a 3. Told you Wallace wouldn't be looked at by Steele.

Just a point of information. In 2014 Alabama (Steele) signed 4 LBs. They are listed on Rivals as 218 lbs, 241 lbs, 209 lbs and 215 lbs. So, I guess Steele does sign LBs under 220 lbs. Just saying....

If Wallace isn't good enough to play at LSU that is likely the reason there was no interest. Not that he was 215 lbs. Besides, a 215 lb high school senior has a pretty good chance of putting on 15 to 25 lbs of muscle with a year of weight training and diet.

Let's say Chatman 185 by the end of his senior year of HS. He's still got a lot of bulk to gain at his height.

Keke did it, but he was 6-5 210 his frosh year at LSU.

We need this guy at LB now that Garrett is transferring. Could back count him and get him in for a redshirt year to learn the system. Make it happen Steele.
