He is stating that he will sign this Wednesday but won’t announce till Jan.
Why would the other coaches participate in his secret once the fax doesn’t come through? Is there some dumb etiquette that I’m missing here?

I mean will other schools not try to sign other DLs essentially allow more intelligent folks to deduce what is going on? Or will everyone act like Santa is real?

Wasn't it Zach Evans who tried to do that and the UGA 247 mods told everyone he signed while he publicly said he hadn't signed and was waiting?

It won’t be a secret to the coaches. Even the ones he doesn’t choose he will more than likely call to let them know. Then they will just stop recruiting him but not make a huge deal about it publicly.

They won't spill the beans, but it's not going to stay a secret for long. Recruits have tried things like this before (see Zach Evans) and there's just no way to keep a lid on it.
We'll know where he signs by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

What is the point of this? If you don’t want to go public or admit you signed, why not just do it all in January. Not like he will miss out on a spot

The coaches wouldn't release it publicly, but it will leak out within 24 hours.

He can't sign in January. They either have to sign this Wednesday through Friday, or wait until February 3.
It's really not as big of a deal as you are making it out to be. Several kids have done this in the last few years and there's usually whispers or rumors, but nobody ever really knows for sure. The only reason everyone was so sure about Zach Evans last year was because of how crazy his recruitment got.

He was keeping it a secret but his brother leaked it and UGA couldnt accept it because he could not qualify so they couldnt confirm it or deny it
