Anyone watched Mayers pitch? Is he still topping out at 91?

Based on how effective he’s been and not really being on the travel circuit, that 91 is probably pretty out of date. Big tall kid in a college workout program for the first time, with likely a fresher arm than his peers, ripe for a break out.

That’s what I figured. He walked a good bit of people but struck out a ton. 91 with some control issues probably doesn’t lead to the success he’s had.

I’m not sure who they’re eyeing but I can assure you that they have their eyes on some lefties and more hard throwing righties. I think juniors are the way to go for next season. Guys who’ve thrown plenty and not prone to injury.

He kind of does know it all. I think he still gets a paper copy of Baseball America.

Mayers is in the mid 90’s now, even getting it up to 97. Kid was cut from St Amant his freshman year and worked his tail off. He’d be a good pickup for sure.

Hell while we’re just talking hypotheticals go get the Brecht kid from Iowa

He shut us down and he can be another one&done 1st round pick like Skenes

He could be like Blayne Enlow from the same area and play HS and legion ball instead of travel and showcase ball

Well this is wrong. Blayne definitely played some travel because we faced him.

He didn’t do the national circuit, at least until after he was already on the radar of pro scouts. That’s more of what I was referring to. Even though he was committed to LSU early, he was considered a “pop up” guy with pro scouts because he didn’t do showcase stuff before his junior year.

Child really? I get it that tampering exists, but not every player is driven by NIL money so, to assume that we can go pluck anyone that we want off any smaller team may not be realistic.

The issue you are replying to is whether or not they have to be in the portal for LSU to express interest (under the table). The issue is not whether NIL money is the driving motivation. You're goal post-moving and defeating a point that was never posited.

IF Taylor, Shores, Appleby, and Edwards didn’t get hurt. Probably wouldn’t see half the highschool level arms we are throwing now…
