do you guys feel that we would have a few more high profile offensive guys "locked in" if we had hired kiffin vs. Canada?
less "wait and see" prospects?
(this is not a second guess thread. just curious and bored at work)

If the offense looks like what the coaches are saying and it is successful, then recruiting will get very exciting in October.

Higgins, I get what you're saying or should I say asking. If Lane was the OC at LSU I think we would have a QB committed for sure. Offensive tackle would probably still be the same. Lane has proven he's a true OC and can develop QBs. Canada hasn't really been publicly seen by parents and recruits in the south. Clemson is his recent claim to fame and the kids want to see more actions instead of words.

yeah, I was curious is anyone else thought his name carried a bit more cache and would've resulted in some players pulling the trigger earlier. I'd have taken kiffin as OC, but im happy with the Canada move. lane is getting his absolute last chance as a HC at fau. I wonder how things are gonna turn out with what seems to be a "we'll take anybody" approach. risk vs. reward.

I think he does with certain types of players - space players and the like. We just haven't had/used them as well as other teams due to our offensive philosophy of the last really 2 administrations.

In some ways Dinardo was more advanced than Saban or Miles in use of personnel - whether that was the specifics of his OC experience with the option or whatever, I can't say. Now, Saban did, reluctantly, move Reed to WR and he was a space player, but did so out of a traditional WR spot.

Even when we had great "space" players under Miles, we rarely used them to full effect.

Maybe, yeah. But a much better chance that Kiffin would be gone after a year. I'd like to see some consistency.
