2025 Metairie (La.) St. Martin’s Episcopal running back Harlem Berry is now the No. 11 overall prospect in the country and No. 1 running back in the nation. The latest 2025 On300 moved him up, cementing his grip on the top spot in Louisiana as well.

On3 director of scouting Charles Power loves the combination of speed and vision that the 5-11, 165-pound back displays on tape. Berry carried it 126 times for 1,710 yards and 30 touchdowns as a sophomore.

“Harlem Berry makes the slight move up to No. 11 overall and now checks in as the top running back prospect, just a few spots ahead of Ousmane Kromah (No. 14),” Power wrote. “We love Berry’s sophomore film. His burst, play speed and ability to change directions on a dime are arguably the best in the cycle. He backed that up with a great track season, culminating in state titles in 100 meters (10.57 seconds) and 200 meters (21.43 seconds).

“Also of note, Berry is currently checking in at around 180 pounds up from around 160 as a freshman. His size is one of the primary areas we’re monitoring as he will likely need to continue adding good mass to hold on to the top spot in what looks to be a good running back group. In-state LSU is the early favorite for Berry according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with the Tigers holding two expert predictions.”

His 247 ranking is a joke.

Berry was every bit of 5'10" 170 last summer when I watched him compete during a HS recruiting talent evaluation. At 15 yrs. old, he was the best athlete on the field (125 kids FR-SO-JR's). Harlem was the same height/weight when I watched STM play at Vermillion Catholic in December 2022. 5'11" 185 is probably where he is right now as a 16 yr. old transitioning into his Jr. year of HS. Harlem's dad is 6'5" so he may grow taller. Wouldn't surprise me if he fills out to 6'2" 210 in 2 years. If he maintains his 4.38 speed, Berry will be a freak

I was a member of both 247 and On3 and I perfer the 247 ranking methodology. Sonny writing is better and is way more diverse. I’m sure you can guess who I stuck with.

Bro should be a top 10 player overall on every recruiting site. Don't give me crap about RBs not going high anymore in the draft.

Seems like it would be a tough eval due to the level of competition he is competing against.

His film and 100m time simplify things quickly.

Not hard to identify talent when you see an elite athlete play, regardless of high school classification. Harlem ran a 4.38 (laser timed @ LSU camp) at 15 yrs old, Jamhyr Gibbs ran a 4.36 at the recent NFL combine. Did playing against single A competition hurt Derek Stingley (Dunham School), Brock Berlin & Jacob Hester (Evangel), Damone Clark & Ty Davis Price (So. Lab), Christian Harris (U High), Al Woods (Elton), Ramsey Dardar (Cecilia) ? FWIW, Southern Lab has 12 former players that were drafted and played in the NFL. In 2 years of HS football, Harlem has already proven himself and college coaches know all about him. He will be fine playing at St. Martin's which is arguably one of the top academic schools in NOLA. Transferring to IMG, Aug, Curtis, or wherever won't improve his recruiting stock.

Saw him in-person during the playoffs and he definitely is. Looked like a 25 year old man out there.

Given his dad’s height, there a chance he gets “too tall” to be a RB and moves outside?

Even Rivals has him as the 2nd highest rated back. Which Alabama commit do they have ranked first?

I wasn't trying to dump on the kid. I am rooting for him to be great and think he will. I was just responding to a comment saying he is an easy evaluation. I just think an easier evaluation would be a guy with those measurables AND you see him dominating against elite competition. Almost nobody he'll compete against is going to play D1 football.

I'm always a little surprised when guys like him don't do everything they can to be WRs.

I guess 247 will now catch up with the other sites after seeing him run 4.3 again and running 10.5 as a sophomore.
