We need LB's bad...and obviously there's bigger targets on our board with Dylan Moses, Chris Allen, Jordan-Swilling, Chaisson, Levi Jones, and Josh Clarke(who deserves an offer)etc.

But this kid is an absolute baller. He camped this summer & goes to the same HS in Alabama as new DL commit Justin Thomas. Thomas Johnston has a dog mentality that can't be coached...I really like this kid a lot & I think he would be a great fit in the P&G. We need to turn up the heat on this kid...not to mention it would be another great get out of state in Alabama

Coach Craig was his recruiter at Auburn and we need LBs. It says warm, I think we nab him away from Auburn.

Reminds me some of Craig Steltz....guess it's the longer hair and the "in your face" attitude.

The irony if he were to sign and then, through shear coincidence, be assigned #31.

He can crush some people but he looks like he would be lucky to run a 5 flat in the 40

Since when does that matter over his other skills. That guy does way more than crush people. They even line him up over receivers to cover.

Go look at the NFL combine. The average 40 time for a LB is around a 4.8 with many great college LB's running a 5.0

It matters when the guys you are going to take him over are athletic freaks. They are taking 3-4 more LB at max and they are not taking this guy if they end up with any combination of Moses, Allen, Jones, Chaisson.

Been watching this kid play football for over 6 years. He is a great linebacker who maximizes his skills and hits like a truck. Very high motor and is an every down linebacker. He is also just as good as a baseball play too playing mostly catcher past two years. Would be a good get.
His older brother is a really good QB too and 3 year stater for Spanish Fort High School.

Would be a backup choice for me. His passion is bigger than anything.

Takes on blockers well and has great instincts. Not sure if he can cover sideline to sideline based on this film though.

The kid seems passionate and intense. The kind of guy who makes your program better because of how hard he is willing to work and challenges other players to do the same.

Having said that, I don't think he's the guy you bring in when your numbers are tight and you are looking at a top 5 recruiting class. I think he ends up outside of the SEC.

I know they don't mean much, but the CB's say 70% to Auburn. Legitimately curious as to why you think he ends up outside of the SEC? I see he has gotten the attention from D1 schools across the country...maybe you're right, but maybe he's one of those kids that sneaks in on NSD or close to it when a school misses on a bigger recruit. Even though he'd have to know he was a "plan b" I doubt he'd turn down the chance to play D1 ball.

Oh he'll definitely play D1 ball, I'm not saying he isn't good enough for that. I don't know the situation of every school in the SEC, but I know 247 says he has an offer from LSU and that for sure is not commitable at this time. Auburn currently has two linebacker commits and I'm not sure how hard they are pursuing Thomas at this moment. Mississippi State could be his best shot if he wants to play in the SEC.

He has over a dozen offers, mostly from power 5 schools, so it's not like he won't make it on a scholarship. I just think he's gonna have to go a little further from home unless he gets in late, that's all.

I can see him playing for a school like Iowa, Georgia Tech, NC State, Southern Miss and maybe Mississippi State. If he's a take for Auburn I think he ends up there though.

Imagine the confusion of having a DE named Justin Thomas and an OLB named Thomas Johnston, both from the same town and high school.

There has been another record broken in 2016 and the new record holder is Thomas Johnston. The linebacker out of Spanish Fort (Ala.) had 17 tackles against Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest Friday night and he now has 661 tackles for his career. The record in Alabama for tackles was 622, so he has surpassed that by 39. The four star is looking hard at Arkansas and LSU right now, and he has already visited each school once this fall. Johnston is a machine on the football field. He is football tough, he has great instincts, he wraps up well and he is a natural leader.
