He is in a position that everyone who loves the game would love to be in. The pressure he must be under to choose is enormous and probably painful for what is still just a kid. I wish him well but I know there will be alot of people in Louisiana angry at him for leaving his home state should he choose to do so. Glad I am not in those shoes.

The kid gushed about LSU! I can respect the fact that the kid doesn't want to get anyones' hopes up. Really good kid with a great attitude! However, just reading the pros of each school would point to LSU!
Let the waiting game continue!

If this guy is as good as billed....I dont see another WR now with LSU that should keep him off the field.....have any of our current ones shown consistently throughout the season that they've absolutely earned a starting spot for next season?....I think LM is open....

It's hard to come in and be the best out of high school unless the WRs there are mediocre (Julio at Bama, Green at UGA). People say RR is a blend of those two players, but I don't see it. Rueben is a consistent threat, but he doesn't possess their gamebreaking ability. That's not a knock on Rueben, just a compliment to Jones and Green. I don't think there's any way he's better than Brandon LaFell. As far as the rest of the guys, there's definitely a shot he could play a lot. I personally don't think he'd break the top 3, but that's just me. I actually think his former teammate DeAngelo Benton is more likely to make an immediate impact (seeing as how he's gotta be 28 by now).

There is no way to tell, but I think he can give Lafell a run for his money. The only thing Lafell would have the clear edge on is blocking (certainly not consistently catching the ball- especially in traffic).

As for our other receivers, no one has shown the greatness required to keep Randle off the field. It wouldn't be easy, but Randle could definitely see the field next year if things go his way.

Knowledge of the playbook and chemistry with the quarterback are vastly overrated.

And how many times have you seen Randle play?
Just asking. I watched Benton and Randle play every high school game that they played(missed maybe 3 or 4). Randle can for sure be in the top three at LSU next year. He is a Lafell clone with better hands. Never seen Benton and Randle race but I do not believe Benton has the top end speed of Randle. Only time will tell but Randle is amazing. Hope he goes to LSU!!!!!!Crazy athletic ability in the whole Randle family. I coached his 8 year old cousin in coach pitch softball this year and she hit 5 homeruns over the fence in 5 games at distict all-star tourny.

SAN ANTONIO — Rueben Randle, an elite recruit at wide receiver, knows about all-out offensives.

At Oklahoma, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Sam Bradford told him that he would return for next season. Tired of facing double-coverage defense, Julio Jones, Alabama’s freshman wide receiver sensation, pleaded with Randle to play for the Crimson Tide.

He has even had recruiting pitches from fellow students at Bastrop High School, in northeastern Louisiana.

“This guy, I believe a freshman, he wants me to go to L.S.U.,” Randle said. “If I sign with L.S.U., he’ll pay me. It was just crazy how he just came up there and approached me with something like that.”

With about a month to go until Randle, a senior, is to announce his college choice on Feb. 4, the first day he can sign a letter of intent, it seems as if everyone is trying to influence his decision.

That is because the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Randle is ranked as the nation’s top player by Rivals.com.

He is still considering Alabama, Louisiana State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Miami.

Often compared to Randy Moss of the New England Patriots, Randle is a rare combination of size, explosive speed and sure hands, all of which will be on display Saturday during the United States Army All-American Bowl, an annual game here for the nation’s best high school seniors.

“He just simply takes over games and owns them,” Jeremy Crabtree, the national recruiting editor for Rivals.com, said in a telephone interview. “He takes personal pride and responsibility in making sure that he’s the guy to do the damage.”

As a junior at Bastrop High, Randle played wide receiver and had 65 catches for 1,068 yards and 11 touchdowns. Because of his athleticism, he played quarterback this season for the Fighting Rams, who were beaten in the Class 4A state semifinals.

The defeat devastated Randle, who was slowed by a hamstring injury. He finished the season with 2,461 passing yards, 20 touchdown passes and 9 interceptions, as well as 683 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.

But Randle said he expected to benefit from his sacrifice. While playing quarterback, he said, he gained more insight into the intricacies of what is expected from a wide receiver.

“I’ll be able to communicate with my quarterback better,” Randle said. “I’ll understand what he’s thinking so we can be on the same page.”

Randle made an official visit to Oklahoma in November and is scheduled to make a trip to Oklahoma State on Friday. Other potential official visits have not been decided, his father, Emmett Randle, said.

Randle has made unofficial visits to Alabama, L.S.U. and Miami.

“I’m looking to go in there and make an impact,” Randle said. “I want to come in to the best situation possible for me as a freshman.”

Besides the return of Bradford, the Sooners are attractive to Randle because they are losing both of their starting wide receivers.

At Alabama, Randle likes the idea of lining up opposite Jones.

Randle is intrigued about playing at Oklahoma State because wide receiver Dez Bryant and quarterback Zac Robinson will return next season.

Yet he seems most passionate about L.S.U., despite a popular recruiting knock being used against the Tigers these days.

Some maintain that their Bowl Championship Series national title last season was a testament to Alabama Coach Nick Saban’s recruiting before he left L.S.U., rather than the coaching of Tigers Coach Les Miles.

But don’t try telling Randle that.

He gushed about the prospect of playing for L.S.U., which rarely loses Louisiana recruits.

“That’s my home state,” Randle said. “It’s a great school to go to. My opportunities there are great. I have a great chance of playing there. I have my family there to support me. They want to have much to do with coming to see me play. So it won’t be hard for them to travel there.”

Regardless, Randle says he is not leaning toward attending any particular college.

“I can’t really give you a favorite because it might change or it might not,” he said.

This week, Randle has added to his sterling reputation as a playmaker during practices for the Army All-American Bowl, despite battling his nagging hamstring injury.

Dre Kirkpatrick of Gadsden, Ala., who is uncommitted and ranked as the nation’s top cornerback by Rivals.com, praised Randle’s size and his ability to catch passes with his hands, not with his body. “That’s another big plus for him,” Kirkpatrick said.

But with signing day a month away, Randle is preparing for even more all-out offensives.

“I know it’s going to be crazy,” he said. “I’m just trying to brace myself for it and be up for anything.”

Like three personally and one or so on TV.

Benton is a more college ready guy to me. He was when he was a senior at Bastrop, too.

Maybe I am biased but I fail to see how Bama could be a "good situation" for a WR to come into. New QB coming in behind a OL that will have big problems with Smith leaving, a coach that is conservative on offense, and another WR that will be getting the majority of balls that are thrown. Forgot to add that their coach is about to start making life miserable for his players. But everybody is free to make their own decisions.

Randle isnt as physically imposing as JJ, but he might be the best pure WR to come out in years. Example, Randy Moss is a better pure WR than TO

My feelings are never hurt on the internet..
A negative thread on the best recruit in the state and probably one of the best that may ever come to LSU isnt helpful to recruiting at this point and time.
While i understand its your opinion, its not the opinion of many people that are paid to evaluate HS talent. If RR ends up here or elsewhere and doesnt live up to his potential (which i am willing to bet tons of money on that doesnt happen)then you can comeback and say i told you so, which no one will either: believe you or care.
No hard feelings, just my take on it.

How is it negative to say Julio is better, when Julio has proven to be better than almost every WR in the country this year as a Freshman? Julio being better isn't a slight to Rueben. If someone said Kevin Faulk was a better RB than Domanick Davis, Justin Vincent, Jacob Hester, Charles Scott, etc., is it an insult to them?

Also, is Rueben going to read this and be so offended that he goes elsewhere?

That Julio and AJ are better? Yes it is.

Cadello, you troll this board like some pathetic arse hall monitor from junior high. You aren't an admin or some supreme authority, so I'd kindly hope that you'd stop being such a little girl about everything.

He also wants to go to a place where the pressure is taken off him. I think Oklahoma/LSU are much more attractive in that regard to RR. What happens if JJ gets hurt? Lafell can go down and we still got depth.

RR will come in and be our slot WR, no doubt. Both Mitchells have underperformed, Dixon hasn't sniffed the field and then a bunch of green receivers after that. I don't think PT is a question for him...hes elite, hes going to play wherever he goes.
