Don't know much of Surtain. Haven't dived into next year's class. Who does he compare to?

Played against his old man in the 94 playoffs when he was the qb for Karr.

How that kid was allowed to get out of Louisiana will always leave me scratching my head.

The 90s were rough... but I did get to see a couple of Independence Bowl wins as consultation. I like to look at the positive lol

Surtain could end up being a once in a decade type talent at corner. He is special. Looking forward to seeing his continued development before he goes to college

This will get anchored fast unless you change the thread title to something like "Surtain favoring LSU."

Didn't he first go to OP Walker, but transferred after Herb Tyler beat him out a QB?

Not that it matters. Just remember something along that line.

“I watch highlights of all the great ones that played at LSU like every day,” Surtain admitted to SEC Country. “Like Tyrann Mathieu, Patrick Peterson, Eric Reid … all of those guys are great players, and so is Jamal, and just seeing the atmosphere of Death Valley looks crazy. It makes me more interested.”

I really don't know. He's incredible. He's already 6'3 190 and still growing. He's got exceptional length and I'd bet money his wingspan is pushing 6'9. His fluidity is second to none, he can switch his hips and shadow receivers better than any 5'10 CB. He's got the incredible instincts that you'd expect being the son of a great player like Pat Surtain. PJ is a freak athlete to top it all off.

IMO, he's the best cornerback prospect I've ever seen, even better than Patrick Peterson.

I honestly feel like Kelvin Joseph isn't that far behind him on talent level and physical attributes. He just dominated the Deion Sanders camp after looking great at both the Pylon 7-on and Varsity Preps camp.

Some serious young talent currently committed to the tigers. Kelvin Joseph and Derek Stingley Jr. are both elite corners.

A lofty comparison for Surtain Jr. would be Charles Woodson

DBU just continues to reload. The defensive back class for next year will be amazing if PSII joins the mix. He was one of the better defensive players at the Opening finals this year as a JR.

with all the DB talent we have been raking in will we run the ever elusive 2-2-7 defense?

I think he was at OP Walker, then Karr became a HS. Karr was a Junior High prior to this.

Yep he crushed our dreams as well in the dome in OT. He was the fastest guy I have ever played against. If his son is anything like his father look out.
