I don't understand Ely at all... maybe Bama looks good now. But everyone and his brother knows that 2012 QB Jameis Winston already has an offer from Bama, lives in Bama, has been a big Bama fan.

You were doing fine and then...

Ely might find himself the next Chris Leak, spending more time on the bench his junior and senior years than playing time.

The hieght thing doesnt bother me and dont be confused Ely is a hellified gun slinger. But I mean when we weight this thing out you give some and you get some. We are deffinitly winners in this situation. Having two would have been golden but I mean we are going round out the best class in the history of LSU.

A few hours before Ely announced ESPn posted an article on Rivers. HHMMMMMM makes you think huh. the world is watching him and he will be good.

If the quarterbacks aren't THAT far apart in ability, then I'll take the one who says he wants to be here over one that will need to be convinced to be here.

I hadn't really heard of either QB before two months ago. It's not like either one is the next Peyton Manning.

So we get the tall one. Okay. That's cool. Yay.

if the guy doesnt want to come here, I dont want him

you either want to be a tiger or you dont and hes looked for every opportunity to not come to LSU thus far and I dont see him changing his mind on that

Exactly. Ely doesn't want to be here, and we have a very good commit who wants to be here

I'd take Ely over Rivers tbh.. but hell, Rivers is plenty good as is.

I just don't agree with the 'apparent' new direction in going after a dual-threat QB now. I'd rather take the best available passing QB or none at all.

I am still amazed at how fluid the decision of where to attend college can be for some people, and I am continually amazed each year. I am not sure if the announcement today means anything, and I hope we continue recruiting him.

Apologies to moneyg and DBG and others.

I knew there was some highly-touted QB that got displaced at Florida after Tim Tebow arrived and had a sensational freshman year. It couldn't have been Leak since he was a senior the year Tebow was a freshman... DUH!

I still say that if Notre Dame comes calling, Ely will break Bama's heart. As he would've LSU.

Sometimes you just have to accept that he liked Alabama better. Lose some win some. Good luck Ely

I do too.if someone makes the boy eat 5 times a day we will be just fine. Kid has the brains and the feet. Mechanics could use some work but I think we should learn to use the release just like his brother did. 6'6 all day everyday. Tbh I think people liked Ely because of the Rivals #5 ranking. If Rivers was ranked higher no one would be sweating this. I haven't seen Rivers live but liked his video. Huge upside. Saw Ely on ESPN 7 on 7. He was solid his arm impressed me his courage was there his descisions was questionable. We don't need a huge arm we need thinkers at Qb game managers no turnovers move the sticks. Get 200-250 yards a agame and 2 touches. I think Rivers is the man give him a few yeaas under Z. Lee. And we are back on track.

I can't ever prove anything, but I am sure the kid has to think Z Lee is staying here. I don't know if that deters kids like this, but I'm sure they think about it alot.

Don't know much about either one but both seem to be middle of the pack prospects.
Ely and his coach did play us if he knew he was going to bama 2 weeks ago..

Well Bama has a stud QB in the 2012 class supposedly.... Winston or something like that, so Im not sure Z Lee had any factor here. But I do know what you're saying and I agree it happens a lot.
