We really haven't even tried. We've slowplayed the hell out of the kid and at this point would only possibly take him if we miss on Williams. Yet he always mentions us and has us top 3. From a good source in NC, if we firm up and tell him he can commit, he'll visit and commit. Doubt it happens and would be a good, solid get for you guys

Welcome back Memphis. Try to stick around this time.

One of the top OL to play for LSU in the late 70s/early 80s, Lance Smith, was from Kennard, NC. He was also one of the 1st 300 lb. players.

I know LSU has slowplayed him. At this point I think he's pretty firm for Ohio State. He fits the needs and mom loved UFM and the campus.

Lance was from Kannapolis. He came with his HS teammate, Tailback Terry Baxter. The LSU Staff then all came with Bo Rein from NC St and stayed on with Coach Stovall after Rein's tragic death, so that's how we were able to pull a couple back then.

Lance was a monster and a great tackle. His college years, though very good, were stunted a bit because Stovall's staff believed in fattening lineman - very much the opposite of today's staff. When we played South Carolina that year we won like 6-0 and their defense couldn't stop making fun of our fat, slow offensive line.

Lance was from Kannapolis.
Kannapolis, not Kennard-good catch.
