Not necessarily recruiting related per se, but this would be a huge change in LA HS football if this does indeed happen with no more public private split or anything like that

I'm glad they realized how stupid it was to begin with.

Thank God.

This was a horrible thing from the start and weakened a great tradition in LA athletics.

Agreed.

It was a terrible move and I'm thrilled to see it rescinded.

No, but they got into the playoffs at 1-9. Mission accomplished, I guess.

well it looks like it was just voted on the wrong way. they could easily vote to keep it.

the return to the traditional 1A-through-5A format comes after a legal review found that the 2013 decision violated the organization's constitution. While it was voted on by the LHSAA membership, it should have been voted on by the Executive Committee

I think they are still going to do a form of split aren't they? Rural vs metro instead of public vs private

Would be retarded to go back to the way it was. Private high schools that recruit vs public high schools that don't/can't led to the same teams being in the finals every year and interest at an all time low. Since the split, the public school championships attendance and interest has been terrific (and not to mention, that's where the money is at). Was hilarious to listen to the private school supporters whine and moan that they now had to play other teams that recruited too and weren't just handed a trophy - so sad...

Don't think they can vote to keep it, would only be able to vote to bring it back next year. But trying to figure out how the LHSAA works is impossible.

Wait wait wait....something doesn't add up here....I mean I know for a fact when I was in school that folks were helped to move from the our school zone to our rival's school zone simply to play football.

So to use this argument as a reason for the split is just plain dumb.

ETA Also do you think the Zachary players think they couldn't have competed against Catholic, Rummel, Jesuit, Evangel, JC, etc. I bet they do. A joint 5A would have been fantastic this year....I mean hell Select Div 1 was insane by itself even with the all the stupid byes.

So will private schools still cheat while public schools can't?
