Ed, I haven't been around as long as you have, but don't you know by now that top recruits don't love LSU? They just like to toy around with us & play games.

According to some, we should be thrilled to get recruits that are under the radar. Lord knows we can't actually recruit any of these guys that the big dogs are after.

I'm admitedly one of the guys that thinks we're getting trolled but I don't think having hope is a bad thing either. That is exactly what recruiting is to fans. Hope. We all hope to land the next great stars for our teams. I've tried to caution people against having too much hope or even expectations of landing him. No matter what he says publicly, Bama has to be considered the frontrunner until he chooses another school. It's just the smart way to go about it.

For the record most "national" recruiting gurus don't consider LSU the biggest threat to Bama for Nkemdiche even with his comments. Most still say Clemson is the darkhorse and Ole Miss likely in the strongest position to steal him. Not saying they are right but a lot of these people don't just run with stuff blindly. They are around these kids and talk to coaches, other scouts and other kids basically every week so I'd think they know some little nuggets that aren't entirely public. As a matter of fact I know a few of them know more than they share publicly. Even Bama's insiders don't fear LSU in this one. My deduction is that there has to be a reason.

The poster that explained the Bama defense running both formations is correct. The 3-4 is just the base. At times(most games I watch of them) they run just as many 4 man fronts as they do 3 man fronts. Quite honestly I think the Bama version of the 3-4 is a better preparer for the NFL than the traditional 4-3. It allows kids to make multiple reads from multiple sets and to adjust depending on what they see from the offense. Our 4-3 is a little different because we run so much nickel. That's what makes our defense good for DL and DB prospects. Pro teams want guys with a ton of experience playing in the nickel because they play so much of it. The kid can't go wrong with either school as far as his pro development is concerned. I feel the 4-3 DT position is the best fit for him going forward. Imo a DT with his athletic skills is much rarer and more sought after by scouts than a DE with his size and athletic ability. He's what many would consider the "prototype" DT prospect. How many DTs can move like him? How many DEs? His size is different from most DEs that move like him but honestly that doesn't make that big a difference. Same argument I used with Mario Edwards last year when arguing he was a better value as a DT than DE.

You're right, Bama is the smart way to go. I really would be shocked if he choose us. I don't think that Clemson or Ole Miss is ahead of us though. He wants to win. He will not choose Ole Miss. Clemson.. ehhh ACC, why would you want to do that? I know it has been said that Clemson is his gf's choice. After this year, I guess we have to pay attention to that. BUT if it's a battle, IMO, it's between Bama & LSU.

I sub to all the LSU recruiting sites, and you're right. I did see them say "watch out for Clemson", but that was before he visited LSU. Things have changed since then, and they all say that he has kept in touch with the coaches every week. You may know something we don't though, so I will keep that in mind.

have you paid any attention to the past 2 recruiting classes that Clemson has racked up?

they have done EXTREMELY well, considering they have Dabo as their head coach!

Its april, does it really matter what anyone is saying now. They could all change their minds by next february.

We have gotten 4 and 5 star busts before and then gotten 3 stars that went on to stellar careers at LSU.

This guy won't be a bust. #1 player in the nation and plays defense. He will be special.
But, you are right about not gettin too excited on any comments this early----however we can hope.

He says LSU leads, he dad wants him here, we run a defense more suited to what he wants. Why are so many blowing off our chances. Not saying bama isn't paying him 100K. But unless someone is, I don't see how we can be discounted as not seriously in the hunt.

It would make more sense for him to come to lsu than bama. All the bama DES do is plug the run. They never rack up any sacks. I hope he makes the right choice and leads us to another top ranked recruiting class.

I see you're still being a douche bag. If this kid commits (which I have zero clue if he will or not and frankly don't know anything about him) you're going to look fricking retarded
