At this point its a foregone conclusion we will have great class. Top 10 guaranteed. However, the real fight will be for in state recruits and the "fence"
Below are the top 12 in state recruits per 247 composite (12 is the # chosen because they are all composite 4 star)

1 DT Shelvin - LSU
2 WR Smith - (bama)
3 DB Harris -
4 DT Mathis - BAMA
5 LB Allen - BAMA
6 CB Stewart - UF
7 QB Thompson - MSU
8 RB Etienne - Clemson
9 LB Swilling - GT
10 QB Narcisse - LSU
11 OL Ealy - OU
12 Ath Queen - LSU

Right now we only have commitments from 3 of the top 12. A strong finish could see us getting 6 of 12, including the top 4. On the other hand, we could go 0-3 on those guys also.

Next two days are VERY important for LSU.

ETA: math is hard

It's not that important. Those kids head out of state then LSU will just reload with more Louisiana kids next class. Stop being so dramatic

Reality is we want to get the best players regardless of where they come from. Clearly not all La kids want to be heroes in their own State. O has already said La first....then we branch out.

If D.Smith ends up being OBJ or J.Landry then it is crucial. If he ends up being like Trovon Reed that went to Auburn then it probably isn't a big deal.

LSU didn't offer Stewart, Thompson, and Ealy and offered Etienne really late so those don't count

Not falling apart in November, winning the games we should, breaking the Bama curse and consistently getting back in title hunts. Those are what's crucial, win and they will come

Miles did but we haven't recruited him since last summer. And if someone thinks Etienne is crucial to in-state recruiting then they shouldn't follow recruiting.

Clemson offered later than LSU.

but he was possibly pissed by the lack of in-state love so he had a wandering eye.

A lot of difference between a kid reporting an offer and being able to commit to a staff

Ealy is a good player but he wasn't a priority for LSU.

Ordinarily, in-state recruiting would be crucial. However, this was a very down year for talent in the state. Quite frankly, there was not enough SEC West type talent. Luckily, Texas and Tennessee are going to be big for us this year.

Which is why I only list composite 4 star recruits. All of them are SEC talents, only real conflict is having to choose 1 DT QB over another.
Next year 5 of the top 15 in state are WR.

This is the worst LSU has done in-state since before Dinardo.
