NEW 4-STAR: JT LINDSEY, 2025 RB
Previously unrated Alexandria (La.) 2025 running back JT Lindsey leaps into the 247Sports rankings with a debut four-star 90 rating and is on Top247 watch. Lindsey ran for more than 1,700 yards and two dozen-plus touchdowns this past fall, and has followed that on-field performance with strong track times of 10.96 in the 100 meters and 22.08 in the 200. An AAU track competitor, Lindsey ran a 10.85 100 as a sophomore. That speed shows on the field, where Lindsey combines pure athleticism and speed with position-specific know-how, including some block-pressing patience when required. Lindsey not only represents a linear home run hitter thanks to his acceleration and top-end speed, but he displays accompanying second-level move-stacking ability. The new 247Sports four-star back has scheduled official visits to Pitt and Houston, and home-state LSU recently offered and now leads the 247Sports Crystal Ball in Lindsey's recruitment. -- Gabe Brooks, 247Sports national scouting analyst

How does he compare to Simon? Is Simon looking elsewhere and JT the backup plan or is he considered equal to or better than Simon by the staff?

With Wiltfong moving over to on3, I feel like 247 is just going to follow on3's lead on rankings to some degree.

I'm going to put much more weight (even than I already did) on the on3 specific rankings than even their consensus.

I don't think Lindsey is a backup plan. He is just too good to let leave the state. LSU is pretty light in the RB room right now anyway so taking 3 RBs this cycle makes sense.

I'm sorry but 3 running backs in one class is crazy. Just take a top transfer back if you come up short.

Scholarship wise.

To me it doesn't make sense to use 3 on rbs in the same class. Like I said use one on a top transfer back if you really get in a bind.

Just my opinion.

Im not against taking a 3rd guy if he is elite catching the ball and can line up at receiver. Just think you can save that Scholarship in your back pocket and get exactly what u want out the portal if need be

Either way it goes, the scholarship is getting used on a rb so your argument doesn’t make sense

Very comparable. I think it's more of not wanting any of the three backs (along with Berry obviously) leave the state, he has earned the offer and it's kind of a "Well if you're going to visit around Simon, then we're going to do our thing as well".

They want all three, but it's also you don't get caught with your pants down and wait too long on Lindsey and Simon winds up elsewhere and you're stuck with just one back, albeit one of the best the state has seen

____________

Too broad of a statement for in general . Would depend on the talent of the recruits and current depth of the rb room. You are probably correct currently though

Bro that was a different time

Now anyone can transfer every year and be eligible

2 highschool and if they are short a transfer RB

Still 3 scholarships for RB’s but not all 3 being freshman for 3-4 years

They wouldn't be in the same class.

I said you could grab a portal rb if need be at a future date. Didn't think it was that hard to understand.

Like someone said, every situation is different. I just can't see a team taking 3 rbs in the same class.

Scholarships are never that tight. Let them compete. Move positions. Whatever happens, happens

Our starter for most of last season transferred to OM. Completely different era. What was applicable in 2011 isn’t applicable now.

it's about roster management. After this year you have 2 scholarship backs, 3 if Holly is reinstated. Six is an appropriate number for a running back room. They take a beating.

On3 had Simon as the #8 RB, and has TJ as the #11 RB, in the ratings world Simon has been there for a while but TJ came out of nowhere to rise from a 3* to a 4* on 247. On3 watches these guys way more than 247 and have both in Top 12 RB.
CBK is trying to lock down the state and wants all 3 including Berry. No top end talent leaving state. Simon supposedly was fitn pop but is taking his visits but has been made aware that he is a Major want by Staff & LSU.
