This Summer, I have noticed a Lot of LSU buzz in Mobile area again. The star QB for UMS Wright just committed to play baseball at LSU, I know all the big baseball players here have LSU on short list or want to go to LSU. (Not even playing football so many many thanks) I also noticed a lot of good high school football players wearing our gear around at the beach, Mall, etc. (This was before kid from Murphy committed)

LSU has been traditionally strong in Mobile (Just like Mississippi Gulf Coast), ans did well here before Satan came back. It's is not far away and was traditionally a pic for kids that didn't want to go to a state school, for whatever reason.

Maybe just Bama fatigue or we are having better effort, but LSU is back in Mobile again

If I were the LSU coach, I would prioritize Louisiana, Houston, Mobile, and the MS Gulf coast.

You're going to sign a nice class every year if that's your recruiting base.

I think it's also related to the momentum that we're seeing right now.
Not sure exactly what's generating it.. whether its Les dodging the bullet. Fournettes appeal.. or what.. but here in Huntsville Alabama I'm certainly noticing a lot more LSU stuff than normal. Along with a reduction of bama stuff.
Hopefully it will help land Ignont..

Yes. Glad to see LSU back in Mobile. Good area for football talent.

We signed an offensive lineman from the Mobile area last year and we have one DL committed so far this year. There is another DL in that area that has some interest in LSU and visa versa. He holds some offers from several SEC schools including Alabama. I wouldn't be shocked to see him come to Baton Rouge.

that wouldn't hack it in these times. we used to prioritize those areas and didn't recruit as high classes. we also NEED texas, florida and "elsewhere" to have the kind of success we want. think about the star players we have had recently from areas not in the area you state.

recruiting in the 2000's can prioritize a larger geographical area. we have lots of recruiters, lots of money and we are extremely organized. the fact that we have lots of camps and unofficial visits being paid by the recruit means that our main recruiting emphasis will always be from areas that recruits can afford to come to BR but we still need Georgia, the Carolinas, south Florida, etc

I think our of our 85 scholarships usually only about half of them are from Louisiana.

Texas will be our state until UT or Aggies (or both) gain momentum

this. Steele got us into the conversation with a handful of kids, but nothing like what Craig can do over there. He is to Mobile as Frank Wilson is to New Orleans

I think it's the realization that Miles is here for the forseeable future and Saban is a short timer. Bama signees for 2017 and beyond will most likely experience a coaching change.

You have part of it right anyway. Satan going away is just wishful thinking , BUT you're dead on about GoodOleLess. It will be the Bobby Bowden syndrome. He will still be hanging on when he's 75, and still trying to explain away those 3 losses.
