Jenkins said he didn’t see anything “malicious” about the play.

quote:

Narcisse was brought down by a horse-collar tackle on the last series to be run with the first-string offense.

quote:

“I don’t think (the tackling player) did it on purpose,” Jenkins said. “He just reached out. But there’s a reason that play is banned at every level of football. You’re just helpless, and your knee can go in any direction. It was a really ugly play.”

So it is malicious? And I'm sorry but there's intent if you're making that tackle in a spring scrimmage

Why are they tackling their starting QB in a spring game.

Even so, the QB needs a red shirt on regardless

I would still have the QBs wear no contact jerseys.

I've been to plenty of these spring games locally over the years and I've never seen QBs in no contact jerseys during a scrimmage between two teams. Right or wrong just not a part of the high school game.

I'm sorry but if I'm a head coach and my QB is of the caliber of Narcisse, you best believe he's gonna have a no contact jersey on until that first game

Yea, there is intent to make a tackle, not intent to harm the opposing player.

You would just be putting off today for tomorrow. It is football things like this happen at every level.

Exactly especially since most high school teams either run spread with qb powers/outside zone/speed option or some variation of triple option (wing t, veer, etc.). Most high school offenses are based on the threat of a qb run. If your going to run the qb the opposing defense shouldn't be asked to slow down and play touch football. As said before, it's football. The kid will recover and go on to have a great career.

Why don't we talk about how he was in the game the whole time and their first offense only scored two touchdowns...

Then nobody would schedule a scrimmage with St James. He's their entire offense and he uses his feet to make plays. Take that away and put a non contact jersey on him and the defense gets nothing out of playing two hand touch, and the St James offense gets no work in by taking away 75% of their offense which relies on Narcisse's ability to run. Even when Narcisse is throwing the ball he's usually running for his life to extend the play because St James offensive line is always undersized and below average.

Same way Belton tore his ACL. Horse collar by Ruston in the end zone his sophomore year. Hasn't taken a snap in an actual game since.

Hope Narcisse doesn't rush back and reinjure it, if he has a torn ligament. With it happening in the spring, he needs to sit until his senior year. No need to risk it in the fall

From what I heard today, he suffered a bruise but no tear, which is what was feared. For those wondering, he has stated on numerous occasions that Auburn is his current leader. He even traveled up there for their spring game last month.
