Looking at it now, LSU will sign close to 30 in 2018 & looks like the best bet to end Alabama's run for No. 1 class LINK

Think about a class with 20 4*, 5 5*, and 5 3*
That is what I want our goal to be. Just complete ridiculousness.

You probably already know this but...
It's still going to be tough to do unless we get higher rated players 1 though about 14.
The lower rated players 15 though 30 (if we get 30) significantly count less than the points provided by the top rated players. The formula is intentionally designed to favor quality at the top of the class.
quote:
Each recruit is weighted in the rankings according to a GAUSSIAN DISTRIBUTION FORMULA (a bell curve), where a team's best recruit is worth the most points. You can think of a team's point score as being the sum of ratings of all the team's commits where the best recruit is worth 100% of his rating value, the second best recruit is worth nearly 100% of his rating value, down to the last recruit who is worth a small fraction of his rating value. This formula ensures that all commits contribute at least some value to the team's score without heavily rewarding teams that have several more commitments than others.
For example this is why Clemson got a top 20 class with only 14 commits this year.

I don't know. We will be able to sign a lot (29 max is what I think), but with Louisiana's talent distribution in 2018 it's going to be a challenge. I bet more than half will have to come from out of state.

not when bama is taking 27/28 per year.

The state of SC has like 5 guys in the top 25 on 247 and Clemson has commits from number 1 and leads for number 2. They will likely challenge Alabama for the top spot

You're the perfect example of someone I want to take out back. Stop being so negative man.

Clemson with a real shot at getting #1QB, #1RB, and #1 DE
Will be a sick class. Dont know what their cap is in 2018 though.

things always change dramatically with potential prospects and rankings each year. there will be 10 LA kids that come out of nowhere that everyone will want. it's always been like that.

And people want to give this years class an A.

This 2017 team is going to turn some heads although initially tagged as a rebuilding year especially with the studs we lost on defense. But between the last two recruiting classes, I wouldn't be shocked if several DL or LBS (other than White) become stars this year. If so, we will be in the hunt for the playoffs.

Saban and his recruiting services will never allow that to happen. He is putting a list together as we talk of the recruits we are after. He has this under control.

Anyone have an idea of how many we will look at taking by position?
We were lean on WR's and RB's this year.

WR's, RB's and DL should be top priorities! I say 3 Rb's . 4 WR's and 4 DL then the remainder can be disbursed else where. Didnt someone say LSU will be able to sign close to 30 this year. i hope so.

Don't know who will get it but it won't be Bama. They already have 8 for the 2018 class assuming none of the grey shirts get cold feet and Byers qualifies academically. Bama will not take more than 25 or close to it next year. If what I hear on our boards are correct.

I listened to a Dabo interview on NSD. He said number of 2018 signees may be less than 2017.
