Math is not your strong suit.

Who knows the circumstances but if I was playing at Purdue and has chance to play for Lsu or Arkansas etc... Deuces ?? He's a hometown kid. They still get good qb recruits. Etling was only top 300 player that year.. I call it the Drew Bree's effect

What does it solidify for 2016? he's played 2013 and 2014. If he sits out in 2015, wont that make him a Sr, in 2016?
He'll be a fourth year junior in 2016.

Every player can take a red shirt year at anytime during their career. This is pretty common knowledge..........

Is this guy any good?
Watched his highlights. He's pretty darn good and may fit the scheme perfectly. Seems like a natural pocket passer i.e. can actually move around in the pocket and look downfield at the same time. Also, doesn't seem to panic and have that "run for your life instinct" at the first feeling of pressure. May not have the strongest arm in the world, but he just needs to get the ball to our athletes and let them run. There are a couple of highlights of him running, and he's not as slow as Mett. Wish he was immediately eligible.

Competition is a good thing at every position!

he's literally the opposite of everything you mentioned.
Freaks out at the first sign of trouble and has happy feet. Can't read a D or make progressions for shite. Has a plus arm but never sets his feet to make a throw. HAs very poor ball handling skills and is good for a fumble per game. Watch our spring game and if you come away impressed...you weren't watching the right game.
#11 David Blough is our QB of the future. I think Etling had a shot and all the talent in the world, but doesn't have it between the ears. A new staff might help that out, but I think he's a head case and when the lights come on he goes MIA.
