Never a bad thing to add a kid with that kind of positive attitude

Rather than a regular walk on who has to try out and is not guaranteed a roster spot (and many times will not make it), a preferred walk on is almost always guaranteed a roster spot but will not receive a scholarship unless they are eventfully awarded one.

It means the coaching staff wanted him in this class, but didn't have a scholarship available to offer him. Most importantly it means the kid REALLY wants to be at LSU.

Most importantly all preferred walk ons get to dress for games, where as many regular walk ons do not

thanks. I guess being able to dress out for games means they could be called for duty, esp a kicker or punter in event of injury.

Preferred also are treated like full time team members as well meaning they go through the strength and conditioning program with scholarship kids. I believe. Strange, almost unnecessary rules concerning walk ons.

My understanding of walk on status, having talked to several recently, is one where you are simply a scout team guy and you aren't really expected to last all 4 years. You just do your job until they can get a new guy in. It certainly isn't glorious haha.
