Georgia wide receiver Jeremiah Holloman was scheduled to make the trip, but committed to Georgia prior to leaving for Baton Rouge. Here as an inside look at what transpired this weekend.

Junior college safety Johnathan Abram would bring some much needed experience and leadership to a young group of safeties next year, which is one of the main reasons LSU is recruiting him to be in this class. According to sources, Abram is a definite take, but the Tigers have to compete with Alabama, who is scheduled to host Abram next. Abram started four games for Georgia as a true freshman in 2015, before transferring to a junior college once Bulldogs defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt left the program.

Pruitt is still recruiting Abram, and that relationship is the wildcard in this ordeal. LSU sources think they made a strong push for Abram, but are well aware of his relationship with Pruitt, and know this one is not over, yet.

Florida linebacker Shanon Reid made the trip, as expected, and is set to make his announcement on Wednesday. The Tigers offered Reid last week, locked in an official visit, but whether he is a take or not remains to be seen. From talking to sources in Florida, Reid wanted to lock it in with LSU this weekend, but the Tigers staff was reluctant to give him the definitive answer he was looking for. One source states that "LSU blew their chance" in gaining a commitment from Reid, while another close to Reid stated that "he is still waiting to hear from the coaches" Monday morning.

2015 LSU wide receiver commitment Brandon Martin ended up enrolling in a junior college, due to not meeting academic requirements out of high school, but received a new offer from LSU just prior to making an official visit. Martin spent a lot of time with wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig on his visit, and according to a source, LSU looks like the clear-cut favorite to land him in coming weeks. Martin rescheduled his Mississippi State official visit for December 9, making room for LSU on December 2. Arkansas and Auburn are still in the picture, but one source stated it may be a three-team race between MSU, Arkansas and LSU, with the Tigers holding an edge.

LSU is trying to hold onto Alabama defensive lineman Justin Thomas, and it sounds like they will be able to, following his official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.

The same could be said for Texas wide receiver Mannie Netherly, who is said to be firm in his commitment to LSU, after his official visit this weekend.
