LSU fans keep saying "Greedy, Devin, Lawrence should move on to the NFL. It is the right thing to do"

No it is not the right thing to do. Not for them or LSU. And none of us fans should say it is. LSU made them the players and men that they are.

Clemson 10 starters that are seniors are redshirt juniors
Alabama 7 starters that are seniors are redshirt juniors
LSU 5 ...

We talk about being elite. Players going to the draft too early is a very large part of the problem and we should realize it. How much better is this years offensive line with Clapp and Weathersby?

There are some players that should go and have to. We all understand. We want the best for them. But more of them should stay for their senior year. LSU must start figure out what Saban and Dabo are telling their players.

I suspect they might tell the TRUTH. The average NFL career is 3.3 years. Chances are your payday is your rookie contract. Stay and improve your draft stock. Make your money at the moment you are drafted.

Our players sometimes leave and don't get drafted. Weathersby & Tolliver immediately come to mind.

We have had a great season but to be Elite your most important recruiting comes from within your own current team

I stopped right here.

You’re a complete moron if you think that it’s not in Devin and Greedys best interest to go pro. They’re projected top 10 picks. They’re draft stock literally can’t get any higher than top of the 1st round.

Also link where all of these people have been saying that Lawrence should go pro.

Change some of your "are" to "or"

Great post otherwise. I 100% agree. Maximize your rookie contract. It may be the only one you ever get.

Its right for them, its not right for LSU.

I hope they are successful in the NFL, but I dont really care much after they leave LSU.

You're talking two different issues here. Most players should return, but nobody in Greedy and Devin's position should return. Not for bama, not for Clemson, and not for LSU. Lawrence absolutely should come back as we all know.

We are not saying that all players should leave early, but if you are a first round pick, you should definitely consider it.

We also aren't saying that we like it, but we also don't feel betrayed.

If a player is projected to go in the first round, they should go. If a player is projected to go in rounds two or three, they should stay, unless that player’s family is in deep need of immediate financial help.

If the player is projected any later, he should stay without question. IMO
LSU’s problem has been that they can’t even get kids that are projected late round draft picks to stay. It’s acceptable to lose guys to the draft, because they’ll be drafted in the first three rounds. It’s totally unacceptable that guys would rather take a chance on not getting drafted at all than to come back for another year at LSU. To me, that’s on the coaching staff.

Nonsense. If you’re projected in the top 2 rounds you should go. Anyone that says otherwise is more a fan of Joe Alleva than Devin White. I, personally, am equally a fan of the players and the school. It’s not their fault we don’t have guys behind them ready to pick up their slack by the last game of the season.

Same here.

People aren’t saying Lawrence should go.

And it is NOT the best “business decision” for Greedy or White to return to LSU.

I wish our Tigers well in their career.

Bama had Minkah Fitzpatrick, Calvin Ridley, Payne, and someone else leave early last year I think. They have like 2-4 guys go early every year. This isn't just an LSU problem. They just do a better job of having the next guy up ready to go IMO

agree 100%.

And the OP is right- for most, the vast majority, the money in the NFL is that first contract stemming from draft position. Very few make it to free agency and a Pro Bowl and command even better contracts. That draft slot is the lottery, assume it's a one-time contract.

Last year the Bama guys mentioned went high in the draft. That is the point. Kids do need to do what is best for them. But there should be some kids that are marginal that stay their their senior year b/c they need to improve their draft position and THEY LOVE THE TEAM.

Hence Recruit from within. . These kids at that point are difference makers. In particular Clapp Weathersby and Tolliver would have made big impacts this year
