Sucks for this kid. Hopefully someone comes along, which I'm sure will happen, and offer him a scholly.

This is the sad "business" part of it all. They need something that he doesn't offer.

Sucks for him. But he's a good kid.

This is why all these kids shop themselves around. You never know. Loyalty isn't always a premium when it comes to NSD

From his offer sheet on 247, Marshall would be his best option imo. I'm sure some team will come in last minute with a spot open. Goodluck to the kid.

Petrino was faced with a DB issue, but this will hurt them in the long run with recruiting. Every competing school will use it against them now.

This is one of the reasons that there needs to be an early signing date like basketball, to protect both the students and the schools. Of course if your word is your bond you wouldn't need an early signing date, but that went out of style many years ago.

The timing is horrible; so may I ask a question?

Who are the biggest offenders that use this practice of offering early, then taking it away to make room for a better talent?

On a scale of 1-10, where do lsu, auburn and Mississippi rank?

I am not going to beat Bobby P for this move. I hate it for the kids and his family but this game is brutal.

Kids silently commit to you and then switch at the last second. He has to protect the team and get the best players. SO while that kid was flirting with other schools. Another player flirted with him and they saw an upgrade. Its not pretty but its a part of it.

Take your visits, make a solid choice you can live with. Commit and never waiver. It still doesn't mean BP wont snatch schollie but at least you gave them no cause to keep looking.

this situation is an outlier. Typically, if something like this does happen, it's a matter of miscommunication between the coaches and recruit.

Coaches may tell the kid one thing, kid and his HS coach refuse to listen/believe, and then are pissed when the offer doesn't come through at the end.

So, it's not always on the coaches. It can be the kid's fault too.

The worst part in all of this is that they wait two days before NSD, giving the guy no time to look around.

unfortunately gray shirt requests happen all the time. Saban is the master at this. Any signings over 25, somebody goes grayshirt. Usually it goes to guys they can afford to wait a year to play and/or redshirt. This guy they must have felt was a strong redshirt candidate. I'm sure it hurts this guys feelings, but he can still sign late. For alot of guys this puts their education behind some as well. Some guys front the first semester and get reimbursed by the program down the line.
