Atlanta Journal Constitution does not allow me to link. I guess I could take a photo of the article, upload it, then link the picture, but No.

6 paragraphs, Headline: LSU gains ground on No. 1 prospect

" ... was impressed enough with LSU to add the Tigers to the top of his list. LSU coach Les Miles will make an in-home visit today."

"I think they (LSU) have a pretty good chance now," Carter said Tuesday. "Going into the visit they were a little behind, but that was just because of how late they came in. But I think they did a good job (making up time)."

Visits left: FSU and UGA, Jan 31.

All interesting, nice, but no revelations.

Nice news.

Do want...do want a lot.

He would be an awesome Tiger and would get a hell of a lot of snaps in the defensive line rotation next season. I could see him as a NFL 1st rounder after three years, easily.

Good news is good news... I'll take it.

He has an excellent shot at getting playing time here next year.

It would be a huge surprise but that's happened a lot this year.

Should I shower his twitter with praise and tell him how great he would be at LSU?

ETA: I'm beneath nothing at this point

well, brick will have to do his best work to get carter. what carter said that was important was that LSU came in a little late. how could you come in late to a prospect who was once considered a potential no.1 player in the country. unfortunately, LSU has a recent history of coming in LATE on oos dl prospcects. see drew, carter, speaks, edwards, etc. this needs to be addressed. brick is taking way too long to get serious about these top prospects.

hopefully, we've seen the last of LC's mom's offspring to mislead the staff.

Kids' perspectives can be skewed - the coaches can't even mention them by name, but the kid can say what he wants. We've been recruiting Carter for a long time. We had commitments locked up for Clark and Godchaux forever - Clark is not considered 100%, but I'm feeling better about him of late.

If we get no other DE, I think we're fine at at the position for 2014. Carter or Malik McDowell would be lagniappe. DT is a little more of a concern to get at least 1, if not 2. McDowell could play inside, IMO, and Speaks is another guy who could project inside/outside/OT.

The recruiting budget is in desperate need of a boost.

We need to hire more recruiting staff and raise the budget.

Hopefully, the plan is something like:

"Ensminger moves to football operations and becomes the head of the talent evaluation team" - then expand that 3 or 4 times the size it is now.

THEN, get Grimes to come in with his ideas - not "co-Coordinator" with Frank, but perhaps unofficially the "Deputy" RC - hire a great recruiting TE coach and double the recruiting budget for 2015.

That's a plan I could get behind. We should not get outspent on recruiting by anyone in the conference, perhaps excepting Tennessee.

i don't know why the budget is such a concern when over half the class is from la. that should save enough money to go oos. we don't need a budget to target the top guys early.

I know this kid didn't mean anything by this comment but this shite is just starting to rub me the wrong way. These kids are being put on an entirely too high pedestal.

wasn't he specifically asked by the reporter if the trip improved LSU chances / what are LSU's chances after the visit?

Hit the nail on the head! Hiring Juluke for TE coach would help a great deal! Raising the budget from 3M to 5M would help greatly too. We just dont have enough staffers to pack envelopes and send them to kids when they are in 8th and 9th grades.

Raising the recruiting budget to at least mid SEC would be great.

What I take from that article is thanks for the visit, you guys were way behind and now I'll consider you but don't get your hopes up.
