Not sure about the NFL. Height will be a major problem at that level. But he has the ability to be extremely successful at the college level. He could grow though so you never know. I will be pulling for this kid wherever he goes.

To me the choice would be straightforward. If I really thought I had a shot at the NFL and wanted to go for it - LSU all the way. Successful QB at LSU would at least get a legit shot at the NFL, even at 5' 11". Especially with a Natty or two. Success at Maryland guarantees nothing. If I felt NFL was a pipe dream - Harvard. Ivy League football is popular there and he could be a star, then get a degree that sets him up for life.

Boomer Esiason played at Maryland. Can't think of a great one since.

I thought it didn't matter where a kid goes to college? I've always been under the impression that if a kid is good scouts will notice him no matter where he's at....

If I were him it'd be LSU or Harvard. I think we should beat out Maryland for him

Honestly, the only thing that might keep him away from LSU is the later offer. Others have been on him for a while.

Seems trivial, but that's a big drawback for some kids (see Dak). Hopefully the coaches can wine and dine him (figuratively speaking) to come out the clear favorite.

Others may have been on him for a while but those "others" don't have the talent we have coming in. Here he would compete for a championship every year. Sounds like the kid is a competitor and competitors want championships. He will never see that at Md and that's just the reality of it. Regardless, its his decision and he has a great opportunity either way.

I agree. If it really is between LSU and MD, I really can't see him leaving the state. Honestly, what is the draw at MD?

Md is actually a very nice school and offers a strong academic program. It also gets cold as crap. lol

I posted this in another thread, but didn't Scott's coach say that Cam had been in contact for a while, and explained that an offer wasn't given because they only wanted 1 QB for this class, which was Franks?

Not to mention Maryland only offered him like two days before LSU.

Cam has recruited him for a while, but I have personally watched Cam focus on a select group of qbs at camps and they did not include Scott. I think it will come down to how much Scott actually trusts Cam. I don't think it's a lack of scouting him or knowing him, but a lack of making him a priority. Maryland situation is not ideal though and they came along much later. I think he's LSU's to lose as long as they convince him he's the guy they want now.

I have never seen this kid play but I have talk to friends who have. They say this kid is very special and we would be crazy not to take him. I was told he is very smart and can really throw a pretty pass.

I'm sure it's a beautiful school. But LSU's campus is beautiful. And it's football program prestige is clearly better. Academically, it doesn't get any better than Harvard. And even if he wanted to stay close to home and go to a top tier school, he's got an offer from Tulane.

I'm sure Maryland is great and all, I'm just saying there are other schools on his list that are better at anything they can offer.

He may just want to be the big fish in a small pond. Maybe, He feels like Maryland will play to his strengths moreso than LSU.
Maybe he was a big fan of The Ninja Turtles as a kid. Maybe, He likes the east coast settings of Nicholas Sparks' movies. We'll just have to wait and see.
