Lawson reasoning for being asked to grey-shirt: ESPN

This may answer the earlier post.
Coach Nettles of Denham Springs said it has to do with a class that Lawson took that doesn't receive credit towards graduation. It must have dropped his GPA or something.
Coach Nettles also claims that his ACT score has nothing to do with it.
Now, schools across the country are contacting him because his recruitment is wide open again.
This may answer the earlier post.

We'll see. I tend to think LSU's compliance office has a little more experience with the NCAA clearing house than Denham Springs HS, but that's JMO.

Exactly, I'd think based on those experiences we've wised up a bit and can anticipate the problems before they happen...or maybe we're super incompetent and are turning away qualifiers because we don't understand that rules at all

Thats the whole thing. Hes prob not going to qualify for LSU. Its possible to get a degree and not a college prep degree from high school that would get you into most public universities if you had the gpa and test scores. To me it looks like the public schools are fricking up.
I got into lsu my jr year. Didnt have to do shite my sr year and still git in with flying colors. But my counselors werent retards and made sure i took the correct classes needed for LSU.

NSD also plays a big role in this too. Its simply too much of a gamble to let a kid sign a LOI (and missing out on another kid who is signing his the same day) knowing there is a lot of uncertainty regarding qualifying, and just hope that he has everything in order by the time the fall starts. Maybe it would be a different story if NSD were in July

mtheob17 - Happy to help and always glad to give a young man from Livingston Parish a little recognition. Lionel Turner was our LSU contribution prior to Hawkins. Great player!
