It's not hate when Hootie could play CB with the best of them. That separates him from Collins.

Collins has great straight line speed, but Hootie gets the edge in lateral quickness. Collins is limited in some coverage situations because of that. While Hootie has very quick feet and about the same top end speed.

Looking at them as safety prospects Hootie gets the clear edge because of his coverage ability and potential. If we look at them at runninback then Collins would have the edge.

I knew Landon in high school. I saw him this summer. He looks 15-20 pounds heavier than 2 years ago. Like a linebacker. Has almost no fat.

Landon Collins was the Gatorade player of the year and Mr. La Football so I give the edge to LC. Hootie has more to prove imo.

Hootie is a nice player, but he's not in LC's realm IMO.

We still have another year to watch Hootie. Don't forget that. If he continues to develop through his senior year he may be the better prospect. Have to give LC the edge at this moment just cuz we saw his senior year. Time will tell. I'm excited

Every bit of this...

There was no LF or CR- or a host of other great players that were seniors when LC was. Makes a big difference.

Hate on LC all y'all want because he went to bama, but he is an absolute animal. He will be a beast before he's done in Tuscaloosa

I don't think he will be a bust, but I am not sold that he will live up to the EXTREME hype. I believe he will struggle with run support, and he does not have great coverage instincts. He makes up for a lot with his athleticism, but he does not possess all the tools necessary to be a dominant safety. I actually think he would have been much more dynamic on offense.

True. If LC was in this years class he wouldn't win it over Fournette or Speedy. LF won it as a junior. Even more amazing considering how good last years class was.

Collins has been clocked at a 10.28 100m, Jones is a good athlete but he's not the same caliber athlete as Collins, don't kid yourself.

Watch the film it's obvious. But if you want to get technical, quick feet is mostly about lateral quickness. Collins has been timed from a 4.2-4.4 in the 20 yard shuttle. That's about average for his position. Not elite.

100 meters is basically straight line speed. Lateral quickness is different. His quickest 20 yard shuttle I found was around a 4.2, while other times were around a 4.4.

NFL Elite is around 4 seconds flat and under. Hootie has the quick feet and hips to play CB. Collins doesn't. Nothing wrong with that since he's a safety, but it gives a clear advantage to Hootie since NFL highly values safeties that can move up and play corner if need be.

No one knows the answer to this. Collins blew up at the sparq combine. Hootie hasn't gone to all these camps to get bumps in the rankings. We'll see where he ranks after the all American games when he's evaluated then and hopefully has sr highlight tape out.

So you're hating on Hootie for what reason? I'll take a full ban bet that Hootie has a better career.
