I'm a bit unhappy that we only got 2 of 5 of the top 5. This should have been the monster class of all time.

But the 2 we did get were the #1 running back and arguably the #1 receiver in the nation. Quinn will be more effective than Noil and possibly more than Dupre. Look for Diarse to step up in whatever role the staff had planned for Noil. Losing Willis helped us get Valentine and LMFAO. Valentine won't need to grow into his position like Willis and is ranked higher. Losing Robinson hurt but we are now getting a commitment for a 5* tackle next year that we may not have? Losing Hootie and Sims will not hurt LSU on iota.

I'm still not really inclined to be too hard on the staff for what happened in the 2014 cycle regarding the instate talent. It was a great year for instate talent. There is simply no way to put a fence up in these times where kids can be recruited by text messaging.

I saw someone brought up what Schnellenberger did with Miami, well that was over 30 years ago. Those schools that try to lock up their regions these days don't do well with recruiting. Regional recruiting doesn't work these days. Yeah of course you recruit your area and establish a strong presence, but there are simply too many other schools to fight away these days, and they can do it with social media now. You have to recruit nationally. A byproduct of that is that you lose more in-state talent. That's just the way it is. It's not good or bad, it just "is."

Only thing LSU can do is to get in their backyard as well. You do that and the instate recruits will know that there will be no saving of spots for them and they can't take LSU for granted as kids have in the past. They'll either get aboard or someone else will take their spot.

Too lazy to check for any germans but I read that bama only signed 6 out of their class from alabama. Is that really true?

They signed 6 of the top 10. Auburn got the other 4. So all 10 stayed instate.

bama signed 5, auburn signed 4, tennessee signed 1

they typically lose more than that to external schools but there were fewer (11) four star or better prospects in bama this year than some other recent years so the external competition was less intense.
