LSU needs offensive tackles in the worst way, leading them to offer junior college standout Badara Traore earlier this week.

Traore already holds offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State, among others. The 6-feet-8, 315-pounder is considered to be one of the premier JUCO offensive prospects in the country, and his offer list is evidence of that.

Traore, who was born in the Bahamas on Nassau Paradise Island, would fill an immediate need for LSU in this recruiting cycle, as the Tigers look to add much needed depth and ability at the offensive tackle position. Traore currently attends ASA College in Brooklyn, New York, after playing his prep career at Magnino High School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

LSU currently has 16 commitments for the 2018 class, but only two on the offensive line, both of which are considered to be interior lineman at the next level.

Jeff Grimes was in New York earlier this week to visit with Traore.

Yeah...we've had suspect QB play...but offensive line has been apart of that...and Grimes starting to look like a disappointment both as coach and recruiter....

He needs to do something in recruiting. He seriously hasn't done much here and it's starting to show on the line.

I think recruiting has been ok.

I agree the line hasn't done well, but lets see them in a new offense. They've had no creativity to help keep a defense honest the last decade. They get teed up on routinely by 8/9 man boxes who know the play.

This is the year he can show what he's worth. If we suck, he needs to go.

ETA:

fixed typo

Grimes has brought recruiting up a notch since Stud left. Sure, we'd all like an NFL left tackle, but overall the athletes are better on the line than they were 7 years ago.

Would be tremendous to get him.

Yes it is time that Grimes lands a tackle like this.

Feast and famine for Grimes as it pertains to recruiting centers and guards vs tackles. IMHO the interior OL recruiting has been very good under Grimes. He has not brought in the true tackles we need. Two of them that were in the program have left. Was the root cause the fact that he was constricted by the wishes and designs of the previous regime? Let's see what happens this year to get more perspective.

HC only gets so many visits plus, if CEO was to use one with him you'd want it closer to his decision time.

We are in desperate need of quality tackles. I've been hoping we would go the juco route more than we have.

We're not even a year removed from a HC that wanted to recruit guards to play tackle. We have Deculus on campus, and OL, especially tackle, is the hardest transition from HS to college. Let's see how the OL looks this year in a new offense that can deceive a defense before we call Grimes a failure...

Correct. And he already stated LSU was in his top 5 that he will release soon. He plans on taking OVs for games in the fall, so there's no immediate rush for this commitment
