I think so as well especially if Mitch is willing to be in a 2 qb class. I think Barrett is definitely open to it. Either way I think we can land 1 of them if we decide which one we want and put the press on. My guess is that Barrett is the guy they'll press but I'll be interested in how they press Mitch when he visits.

GW, I wish we would cast a wider net with qb recruiting but there really aren't many "top level" qbs in the class that I've seen though some will differ. I only see 2 "elite" guys with a 3rd possible depending on how some rate Swoopes and all his potential.

Top QBs I've seen on film

1 Max Browne- we have no shot so not worth the effort
2 Shane Morris- commited to Michigan
3 Tyrone Swoopes- purely based on talent and not his current qb skill. All upside.
4 Kevin Olsen- worth a shot though he's a longshot but he's open
5 Ryan Burns- One of the VA group and why not try
6 JT Barrett-
7 Christian Hackenberg-another of the VA group. Not worth the effort. Bama or PSU bound
8 Cody Thomas-at least try. This kid is flying up. I might actually like him more than Barrett but waiting to see a little more
9 Kohl Stewart-we offered supposedly but I think MLB wins
10 Brice Ramsey-UGA
11 Cooper Bateman-he's open so at least try. He's good and not LDS so that helps everyone.(he's from Utah)
12 Hayden Rettig- probably higher when he proves he's healthy. Has top skill.
13 Jonathon McCrary-good talent and smart but seems a litlle entitled. Vandy commit but I'm not sure it sticks
14 Sefo Liufau-finally remembered his name. Lot of talent with this kid but needs coaching. Also probably stays on the west coast.
15 Bucky Hodges-the last of the VA threesome. Apparantly we've been in contact. He's got talent.

Ya I see what you are saying. I would like us to at least try some of those other kids.

I don't like how we have confined ourselves to only recruit in the Texas/Louisiana region. Its disappointing that we fail to capitalize on monster seasons by recruiting nationally. There are a lot of kids who respect LSU and would listen if we called.

I know most of you will say we don't need to recruit nationally because we have Louisiana but that doesn't compute. The goal is to get the best players you can get no matter where they are from. There are many kids around the country that if recruited would seriously consider coming to LSU. Its very clear to me that we are lacking in the recruiting department. We will still finish with Top ten classes but with our success on the field it could be so much better.

We have stopped recruiting Florida and Georgia almost entirely.

Nope, I'm not one of the LA only guys. I llove the LA kids but not at the expense of better talent from other places that we can get. In a normal 25 man class,in most years, I'd prefer a 15-17 man core group from LA and then branch out into Texas and the southeast for 8-10 guys. We're fully capable of doing it. QB recruiting is a whole sperate dynamic than any other position. There are usually 10-15 "tier 1" guys at QB every year and imo our focus should be on those guys until we land one or they're all gone. Keep the "2nd tier" guys in communication but only as a backup to the top guys. QBs are too important to handle like every other position in recruiting. Imo the QB recruiting net should go from Washington state over to New York, down to Florida and over to Cali with every state in between hit along the way. If we have to offer 10 guys then do it and get as many as possible in for a visit and gauge from there who to push for. Every other position can be filled well with"regional" recruiting but shouldn't be limited to only regional. Can't hurt to try. Just have to make the decision on who to continue to pursue and who to drop after interest is shown.
