Everyone who I have spoken to about Clowney feels he is a South Carolina lock. I am not trying to act like a know it all, but I am in the recruiting business and do have solid connections. Clowney, at this point in time, is off the market.

No offense to Rasco he's a good kid but he is looking elsewhere and our coaching staff should do the same.

Ummm, Clowney's favorite is USCe right now. Rasco is probably a UT/LSU toss up.

1. People are focused on Nathan Hughes (Klein, TX) and Jermauria Rasco (Shreveport, LA) at DE.

First of all, we might take 3 DEs this year. Second of all, Clowney is way better than Hughes.

2. Both are much closer to BR than Clowney.

So what? I don't get this whole "he's too far away" business. Did Sam Montgomery live to far away? Does Justin Worley (who we are recruiting at QB and lives in the same town) live too far away?

Both are considered to be considering LSU more so than Clowney.

You don't know that.

DE is not a position people are focused on

I disagree.

Who is we? And I can't say who is better out of Clowney or Hughes. Do you really think we can take 3 DE if we are crunched for numbers this year?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't recruit him as hard as we possibly can. If you read the rest of my post you will read that these are the reasons people aren't discussing him as much as other defensive lineman.

Let's put it this way. Rasco hasn't said one way or another. Texas might not have enough room for Hughes and people have claimed that we may be next on the list. Clowney favors USCe.

I disagree.

Why is that? We signed a bunch last year and have more depth problems at OL, DT, WR and LB. Those positions along with QB & RB are probably the positions most people have talked about this year.

Clowney has in the top 5 with USCe,Clemson,Bama and Florida. He favors USCe but I think he lands at Florida to be honest.Dunlap jr.We are recruting him hard but like some of the other guys have said he isn't the priority that Rasco and Cedric Reed are.Hughes is a guy we're on but most feel he will grow into a DT.Long way to go with these guys and DE is likely the position that causes the most stress for us this year because most of our targets are going to be late commit guys.(Reed probaly early but we'll know whether to move on or not)

but LSU is one of his favorites and a top 5 this early on. Rascoe hasnt said shite about LSU. You go after this guy and you take who ever commits first if you are worried about taking 3 de. I dont think you can ever be too stacked on the line. Never know because some guys may get moved around or not pan out or leave early.

I agree, RECRUIT THE HELL OUT OF THIS KID! Looks like a stud and I hope he comes to LSU.

I'm just replying to the OP's question and giving my opinion as to why people aren't talking as much about him.
