Our DL is going to be amazing now that Pendergast is our DC.

Alexander, Lawrence and Logan would be the best DT haul in a long time.

Don't forget about Ed Oliver...he may end up being the best one of the 4. He's a MONSTER

And 2 5*s, Gilmore and Herron who have not been developed along with Bain. Talent wise this position is loaded

I'm as big a fan as anyone on this board, but people relax. All the kids coming back are basically freshman or sophomores except for Lacouture and Thomas. These kids will be fine.

Lacouture
Godchaux
Thomas
Bain
Gilmore
Valetine
LMFAO

Three deep plus 1 across the board

no real elite DTs in the state, and a like 3-4 elite DTs next year.

That mixed with young DTs this year.

It's more a result of the 'allowing Chavis to go' approach. We were recruiting Mack (DT) and Phillips (DE).

I just think that the coaching staff is saying to themselves that some guys out of this group will develop into some playmakers......numbers-wise, it's the deepest position we have. Hopefully the light will come on during the spring. LB is something I think the staff is praying for in 2015.

2015

DE
Sione Teuhema 6-3 225 so
Lewis Neal 6-1 240 jr
Deondre Clarke 6-3 255 so
Michael Patterson 6-2 225 jr

DT
Davon Godchaux 6-4 295 so
Travonte Valentine 6-3 300 so
Greg Gilmore 6-4 315 so
Trey Lealaimatafao 6-2 300 so

DT
Christian LaCouture 6-5 300 jr
Quentin Thomas 6-3 295 sr
Maquedius Bain 6-3 310 so
Mickey Johnson 6-0 310 sr

DE
Danielle Hunter 6-5 240 sr
Tashawn Bower 6-5 250 jr
Frank Herron 6-5 285 so could he move back to DE?
Isaiah Washington 6-4 260 fr

Not the same scenario as the LF recruitment but at DT you could squint and make it seem that way.

At DT, we have only gone after kids we feel are elite game changers at the position and we just haven't landed any of them. The only kid we've really gone hard for is Mack and we were right there until the Chavis mess. The reasons are simple, we are loaded currently and 16 is the group in a while maybe better then this year nationally up top just in LA and Texas.
Alexander
Lawrence
Logan
Guidry
Oliver
Kendall Jones

We are right there with all 6 of those kids and will land 3, maybe 4 of them.
Basically the 15 class at DT is a luxury

At DE, simple, instate sucked and we have missed on the OOS kids to this point. Its a disappointment and could hurt us in a couple of years unless we hit it out the park next class.
As for 16, we are gonna need at least 3 maybe more. Promising that there are at least 3 kids instate possible to get offered in Anthony, Martin and Baker. I'd bet at least one or two get an offer and evals aren't even in yet. OOS is gonna have to be a major priority for elite DEs. This is why Ed O would be so big if we can swing him onto the staff. He never disappoints with a DL class. Its his bread and butter. Don't care if he recruits any other position at all because DL is our lifeblood and he will get the kids needed

Those guys mentioned above

Brown-honestly have no clue who he is so I'll go with the posters claim he was maybe a miss

Jacobs-we offered, as an OG. He was open to it for a while but eventually wanted to play DT and in that class he wasn't getting a DT offer. He didn't qualify that year anyway and we rarely go back to a kid that fails to qualify

Lawson-offered and committed for a long time. He was a huge grade risk and left mutually. Worked out for him but we weighed the pros and cons and made a choice. It happens

Hunter-quite simply we chose the wrong guy. No other way around it

Obidaho(not sure on the spelling)-simply didn't fit our defense. He's a 3-4 DE that isn't big enough or good enough to play DT. Sure he's contributed at TAM but I'm not sure that helps the argument at all. Have you seen their DL play? Its horrible. He would not play ahead of Rasco, Hunter or Bower. Doubt he would play next year either. Not here

I'm more worried about DEs than DTs at this point, although I also think two or three of the young DTs will go the way of M Johnson or transfer out. However, a healthy QT with DG and CL(the only proven ones), LSU has a good core. Hopefully the two that essentially got red shirts can play.

DEs are another story with Rasco and looking like Hunter gone. The staff may feel good about the remaining DEs and five have taken snaps at least.
