Arguably...

1. Ja'vonte Smart, Scotlandville
2. Glen Davis, University High
3. DJ Augustin, Brother Martin
4. Tasmin Mitchell, Denham Springs
5. Tweety Carter, Reserve Christian
6. Rico Gathers, Riverside Academy
7. Greg Monroe, Helen Cox
8. Matt Derenbecker, Country Day
9. Brandon Bass, Capitol High School
10. Jarell Martin, Madison Prep

Why does everyone nowadays have to be the greatest something or other? It's tiring.

I know based on his college stint nobody would put him up there, but Trey Touchet was Louisiana Gatorade POY twice. Kind of the dark ages for Louisiana basketball back then though

Brandon Bass should be top 3, Tas shouldn’t be top 5. Big Baby too high. DJ number one...Smart definitely matches up with most. He could certainly be top when looking back.

Tyrus Thomas and Darrell Mitchell should be on this list IMO

Correct me if I'm wrong but Bass didn't win anything. I realize Tasmin never won a state championship either but every year Denham Springs was in the hunt.

Tyrus wasn't a big time recruit coming out of high school though.

Also Derenbecker was the 3rd best in the state in his class, why you'd think he'd be in top 10 over last 20 years? He did nothing in college to make a case for him.

I was wondering why this same thread that is done at least every couple of days was changed from "greatest ever in La" to just the greatest the last 20 years and reincarnated.

I also wonder why this constant barrage of essentially the same thread is pounding the recruiting board. He has already signed and has not been a recruit for LSU since November 8th 2017.

Bass was big time and brought a lot of attention to basketball in the area.

If we are going to be real honest, Seimone Augustus should be number one on the list.

I was told by a southern La. high school that if Smart needed to take over a game, that he was capable against anybody he would play. This friend hasn't coached against Smart as he coaches at a small school , but has seen him play and ranted about his ability. He said will be a star at every level, including NBA .JFWIW

Greg Monroe was a top 10 player nationally and a first team all American. Shouldn’t he be #1?
