the one thing for new recruitniks to learn- its not all about stars. its about filling needs

Not even close. 1) I'm not new. 2) We had 5 In state studs and we got 1. 3) We needed a stud DT. 4) We needed a stud OT. 4) We needed a stud S (However, I'll take Paris over Jones)

Again, I have no expectation for anyone to believe it but I was asked a few posts back so there it is.

First, thank you for the response. Second, I've imagined recruiting far more tactical than it would seem on the surface. It's war. It's money. Millions are at stake. To believe that the gloves do not come off is juvenile. The more I observe...I'd honestly be astonished if disinformation and subterfuge were not part of the game.

I think the number is higher than that. Quinn, Harris, Brumfield, Godchaux, Clapp and Washington are all studs - all top 10 to 15 at their position.

We didn't "lose" Sims - so how can we lose one we didn't really pursue. The losses are - clearly - CRob, Hootie, Speedy and Willis. Let's take these in turn.

CRob - #1 OT in the nation. Wanted him - he wanted to follow his buddy to Sabanation. Done. Let's get over it and try not to dwell on it - it was a long time ago.

Hootie - yes, he played Miles a little bit, and we should all be put off by that. He helped form the NELA 3 - so be it.

Speedy - drank the Kool Aid. I would have loved to get him, but to pretend that Chi and Quinn aren't better fits for what we do (and ready to play WR right now, too, although Chi probably needs to fill out a little), while Speedy was loads and loads of potential that may or may not realize. Did we need 4 or 5 WRs? No. Would I have been pleased as punch to get him? Sure.

Willis - we let that family do it to us again. What can I say other than, "Touche".

You do NOT win or lose based on the kids you do not get. You win or lose based on the kids you do get. We're still in it for Adoree, TV, Carter, etc. We're still in it for Kenny Young (athough I'm pretty certain he went OOS) - we're still in it for Chi.

And let's not forget who we did get, OOS - CG - arguably the best LB in the country. Ed Paris - arguably the best all around DB prospect in the country. Adams - a better S prospect than Hootie (whom I still believe plays LB at the next level). Clark - if we keep him - is an outstanding prospect out of Oklahoma. Upchurch is a kid people are sleeping on - another big receiver with lots and lots of upside. Voorhies is lost in the shuffle, much like Paris, because he committed to us so early. Those kids could have gone anywhere - and not being from Louisiana, picked LSU anyway.

We have our own diamonds in the rough, too - Battle, especially, is likely to surprise people - can't teach heart and aggressiveness, Alexander is a great athlete - almost designed to play in Chavis' defense - if he's coachable at all - All conference isn't an unreasonable expectation.

And Chark, from right here in CENLA - a pretty solid offer sheet for an undersized WR out of ASH. Somebody knows something. I think he will surprise people - perhaps be the next great return man from LSU.

I'm pleased with who we got and who we're still in the hunt for.

We can't lose sleep over kids we didn't get.
