If it was a business decision, I wouldn't sign on NSD if I was a recruit

I would wait until the dust settles to see who signed where. There are a lot of unknowns until NSD is over.

Notice I said business decision in the thread title. Some recruits are diehard fans of a school and would sign there regardless.

Classes fill on nsd. Why would you limit your options?

a 5 star type of player may be able to get away with that. but suppose you are a 4 star player and want to play for LSU, Bama, or FSU. If you wait until after NSD, you will most likely be on the outside looking in. Your options may be limited to Southern Miss, Memphis, or Houston.

Doesn't seem wise to me.

Schools will fill their rosters out. Unless you're a big time recruit, this is football suicide.

Only to find out your top schools filled all their slots. Then you end up at...Delaware St.

You would have to be elite level talent, which is not the case for the vast majority of the players. Otherwise you risk losing a spot and scholarship at the school you want to attend. If you are good enough to have the luxury of waiting then you shouldn't be concerned with competition. The only reason I could even see someone doing this is if they had a legitimate concern that the school they want to attend may be have significant staff changes ahead (I.e the head coach may bolt for the NFL or to another school). The idea may sound great, but there is a reason why very few wait until after NSD to sign their papers.

in addition to most likely not having a spot at a decent school, waiting to see where other players sign would send a pretty clear message you are afraid of competition.

for the most part, these kids know what they're doing. they have advisers and handlers.

business decision

It's a career decision. They're going to college to get an education and play a sport to establish a career one way or the other. It's not a business. They can make "business decisions" when they find a career.

Dumb thread.

I wouldn't sign on NSD either. I'd do it before and claim my spot so I'm not settling for leftovers.

A friend of mine in HS was a 3* RB committed to Arkansas, when Arkansas got Alex Collins they pulled his scholarship to make room. My friend ended up at South Alabama as a last resort bc most teams had filled up

If this worked more people would do it, if more people did it then it would no longer work.

I would be totally opposite of you, I would sign very early and enroll early

I would recruit for my new school and get the best possible players to be my on my new team. Not sure why most of these kids drag it out and they should have a slot prior to the fall or during the fall for high school kids to sign and get it over with so they can enjoy their senior year

Waiting untill after NSD to sign would be a character flaw, very selfish and not attractive to the new team.

At this point, you just want to sign your papers already and start the next chapter of your life. Coaches contacting you every day or sending gobs of letters everyday gets old.

Should be able to sign at any time. Not just on signing day. Player should also be able to transfer to another D1 school as soon as the season is over without having to sit out a year.
