I just ran the recruiting averages for the last 4 years

first off, i really don't know what the point of this is. But anyway, i ran the recruiting averages for that last 4 years on:
scout and rivals. (i convienantly left out 05) anyway we were a count hair short of number 1 on scout and number 3 on rivals.
something that was also surprising is how well auburn has recruited. They are very talented. They averaged 6 on scout and did not do as good on rivals.
Georgia are 5 on scout and 7 (and tied with auburn) on rivals
florida is (get this 7 on scout ) but 2 on rivals. Someone screwed that one up imo.
texas 3 on scout and 5 on rivals.
it seems we MIGHT be the most talented team is the country. I would have though florida and usc was way more talented but that is not the case.
first tier
usc
lsu
texas
florida
georgia
ohio state
second tier
auburn
oklahoma
alabama
notre dame
miami
there could be more in the second tier but those are the main ones. and there probably is a third and fourth tier but i don't give a shite about them. Well maybe i should, because that is where lsu was for so long. I know if i factored in the 05 class that saban screwed us on we would probably be top 5 still maybe a little lower. So really this isn't very acurate. But i did it because thease are the first real classes that miles could recruit without the limited scholorships that saban left in his path of destruction. it's also a bad berometer because half of the 05 class is not here or at any other school for that matter.

I don't see why anyone who really follows recruiting would think this.
Come on, dreaux, thought you were smarter than that.
LSU is easily 1, 2 or 3, within the proverbial count hair of USC and UF.
Next would be OSU and OU, but a decent bit back from the Top 3.

Sounds like rivals does a better job than scout.

Average Star rating is probably the best way to measure talent, instead of total class rank, which can be some what misleading. Look no further than Ole Miss and their 16th ranked class this year. It ranked so high because they signed like 94 kids this year
Going by Average Star Rating per player, here are the Top 5 schools over the last 5 years
RIVALS:
1. USC - 3.99
2. Florida - 3.89
3. Ohio State - 3.75
4. LSU - 3.72
5. Texas - 3.70
Scout:
1. USC - 4.09
2. Florida - 3.89
3. Ohio State - 3.76
4. Texas - 3.75
5. Notre Dame - 3.71
LSU is tied with Georgia for 6th with an average of 3.65
none of that takes in account players that never qualified, just players signed to each class. In those rankings for example, LSU gets credit for DeAngelo Benton in 2008

If your goal is to determine which CFB team is the most talented, why use the silly arse recruiting rankings as a barometer? There is only one true bottom line indicator of the talent that a college football team has, and it is irrefutable. Want a hint? THE NFL!!
How many of your players are drafted and how many are on NFL rosters is the only true indicator of the talent level of the various teams and conferences. Recruiting rankings, regardless of how much stock some put in them, are extremely subjective and regional and thus totally unreliable as a talent barometer.
I know the SEC has lead the nation the last several years in the total number of players on NFL rosters and I also know LSU is in the upper tier, though I don't know our exact rank. It's nice you put in all that research but it's way easier and more accurate just to count heads in the NFL!!

We're discussing overall teams not individuals. Just because you don't play in the NFL does not mean you weren't a good college player.
