Looking at our roster from lsusports.net, we have so many freshman wide outs, do we really need to recruit more than one? Jazz Ferguson is going to be a stud, but I don't think we should go after anyone else but him, Tyron Johnson, Lenard Fournette and Damarkus Lodge. That being said, I know we have offers out to 19 WRs in total per 247.

My question for everyone else, is at what point does having too much depth at a position cause a problem for recruiting?

39 Lenny Breda WR 5-9 167 Fr. RS Lake Charles, La. (St. Louis Catholic HS)
9 John Diarse WR 6-0 210 Fr. RS Monroe, La. (Neville HS)
83 Travin Dural WR 6-2 192 So. 1L Breaux Bridge, La. (Breaux Bridge HS)
13 Chris LaBorde WR 6-0 191 Jr. SQ Lafayette, La. (Westminster Christian Academy)
12 Jeff Lang WR 5-10 193 Sr. SQ Benton, La. (Benton HS)
1 Quantavius Leslie WR 6-4 179 Sr. SQ Hogansville, Ga. (Callaway HS/Hinds CC)
81 Tony Upchurch WR 6-1 230 Fr. HS Pearland, Texas (Glenda Dawson HS)
87 Kevin Spears WR 6-3 195 Fr. RS New Orleans, La. (Holy Cross HS)
86 Miquel James WR 5-8 161 Fr. RS Kentwood, La. (Jewell Sumner HS)
82 D.J. Chark WR 6-2 184 Fr. HS Alexandria, La. (Alexandria HS)
15 Malachi Dupre WR 6-3 187 Fr. HS New Orleans, La. (John Curtis HS)
8 Trey Quinn WR 6-0 194 Fr. HS Lake Charles, La. (Barbe HS)
2 Avery Peterson WR 6-2 200 Fr. RS Pompano Beach, Fla. (Ely HS/Hargrave Military (Va.))

IMO, we only lose Leslie (Dural stays at least 1 more year, especially if Harris wins the starting job), so in reality we only need 1 WR to have the same amount of WRs on the team next year as we have this year.

We would be fine with Ferguson, but the staff obviously isn't turning down a commitment from Johnson, Lodge or Charlot right now. If we get Johnson or Lodge, Charlot goes off the board IMO.

we only lose Leslie

Why does he not play more? He was hyped to be great when he came in, and I don't believe I have seen him on the field yet...

This. We'll be returning like 8 scholarship guys. Somewhere between 10-12 is probably where we want to be. We are using more different guys than we have in the past, they're just all going to be back next year.

We should only go after Johnson and Lodge. Lanard Fournette is a good athlete, but not on the same level as Johnson and Lodge. Shut it down with those two and Ferguson.

I'll take that bet! Dural is a first round draft choice this year. He's got reliable hands, he's fast as hell, and he's shown the ability to get open deep. He also has a very solid physique which makes it hard to jam him and makes him a good blocker.

High probability of leaving this year:

Dural: mid to late first round
Kwon: second or maybe third round
Vadal: second round
Mills: second or third
Jalen Collins: third to fourth
Gordon: I think he's a junior. I don't see him getting any bigger or stronger.

Other ones on the fence...

Hunter: He could get a low draft prediction, because of his size, and thus return.
Hawkins: I think he really benefits from coming back.

La'el Collins is the only guy on the team with a legit 1st round projection, you are delusional if you think we have that many top 3 round picks

Realistically from that group, we have 8 WRs. I think Miquel might have a chance to play as a RB/WR/KR/PR with his speed, so I'll say 9 total next year.

That is enough depth to last us unless some start jumping ship. I think we'll keep Ferg and hope for Johnson/Lodge. I don't think we will "force" another WR in this class, if neither of those two don't commit here. There is still another huge crop of WRs in Louisiana next year.

Kwon: third maybe fourth round
Vadal: second round
Mills: fourth or fifth
J Collins: third (i think somebody falls in love with his size and speed) to fourth
Gordon: comes back

Hunter: will be a top 3 round pick. He won't have the sacks, but when they see this guy 20 yards downfield tackling WRs on tape, they will love him. This guy is long, huge wingspan, and plays great in run support. He'll finish the year around 85-90 tackles and around 15 TFL.

Hawkins: comes back.

Agree. The only one we should lose is Leslie to graduation.

Pretty sure that's only 9 scholarship receivers which averages out to 3 deep for xyz. Not too many to have IMO. Only losing one this year to graduation, don't need but 1 or 2 unless Dural decides to leave which I doubt will happen.

WR's that are draft eligible who are better prospects than Travin Dural...

Amari Cooper
Kevin White
Sammie Coates
Nelson Agholor
Dhaquille Williams
Jaelen Strong
Devante Parker
Reshad Greene
Stefon Diggs

...and so on...

But he could leave early I guess
