Nick Saban put LSU football on the map
LSU played 107 years of football before Saban arrived. People already knew who and where we were.

There are sensitive people here..
I was clearing up any misconceptions that anyone was having regarding Bolden's recruitment by LSU and what Bolden could bring to the table at LSU.
Since I have seen him play since he was a freshman just about every game I have a pretty good idea what we would get.
He blew up over his sophomore to junior year and last year he finally developed a place for him in college. His sophomore and freshman years he rarely was used out wide and was definitely not dominant, but good.
Last year he became dominant at a position that few can do well: that is being used in multiple packages as a receiver in the slot; in motion into or out of the backfield; a decoy; and out wide even as a wide-out.
His advantages over other players at his position being recruited are that he is bigger, just as fast and just as quick. He has excellent hands and is a great leader. I would take him over Provens and others also because I have seen exactly what he brings to the table firsthand against great teams while being used in the packages he will see in college. He is also older and more mature than most players seeing that he will graduate at 19 years old. He will be on campus and he will pass.
If fellow LSU fans are looking for a player who will make defenses guess what the F---is going on each play and ESPECIALLY on third down situations, Bolden is the recruit you want out there.
But, saying all that, I recognize people keep talking about playing running back in situations. He is not a running back. He doesn't run like one and he doesn't even seem to try to run like one. His vision is ok, but not great; his pad level is poor at times and you can tell he uses his athletic skills to improvise against lesser opponents. To be a running back in the SEC you better have power, proper coaching in terms of pad-level and a level of physicality that brings it every play.
He isn't even a third-down back. He is a receiver and if used in 3rd down passing situations I could see him at running back being used as a release valve out of the backfield on screens or check-downs. He would need to truly be coached up to become a running back at LSU on any down from what I've seen of him so far.
People can take that as negative, but they ignore the positive. That is why I critiquing is always critiqued itself.
Hopefully this clarifies what kind of player people will get if he comes to LSU.

What point are you trying to make here?
No way that a 5'11" 195 lb. white kid is gonna make that much of a difference unless your coach is Bill Belichick and your QB is Tom Brady.

You obviously haven't seen him play..
I have, and when he is utilized properly out wide he has absolutely destroyed every team he has faced. He made it look easier than any slot receiver I have seen in years. He single handily made Zachary's defensive backs look like cottage cheese last year along with Neville's defensive backs. Kid can straight dominate out wide and in motion offenses where they utilize his size and speed/quickness against other teams 4-3 sets and nickel packages. Kid is legit. He is every bit as good as Chase.
Yes, I've seen Chase play too.

You're right. I haven't seen him (or Chase) play. I'll just have to take your word for it. Go make it happen.

Do things change with Chase's recent pledge to Florida?
Seems like LSU could become more interested in Bolden.

According to jimmy Smith, LSU's approach with chase doesn't change at all. Just instead of flipping him from TCU, now they're working on flipping him from Florida. He opined that this might even be better for LSU since Chase doesn't have the long standing relationship with the Florida staff as he does with TCU.

I agree with that! And he doesn't have the amount of instate kids going to Florida like tcu does. And the arse whipping we hand them in the swamp should help our cause

How is Slade Bolden not a top priority for this class? by radicalizedtigah
Slade has a offer and has not committed, any recruit with a offer from LSU is a priority and Slade is no different. I am sure the coaching staff is actively recruiting him. Why do you assume the coaching staff is not??
My thoughts are he is waiting to see a few games and judge the new offense and see if we fit his skill set.

He's been doing a good job by studying all the evidence, I just think he cannot make a truly informed decision until he sees LSU's offense this year under Canada.

I just hope he goes to LSU. All the offensive recruits should wait and see the offense this year. What's the hurry in committing? Give it a chance....the above post makes a lot of sense.

Here we go, more excuses for losing.

I agree, I'm a big fan of the kid.....but I'm a little confused to why he wants to make a commitment so early. I doubt it affects his high school team if he watches a few games on Saturdays this fall to see if he fits....especially if LSU is his "dream" school

I have no dog in the fight, but West Monroe definitely fields an older team than most.
