How good are the chances that LSU ends up with the # 1 class?

I keep hearing that LSU could have the number one class across the board. I don't follow recruiting religiously so I would like to hear from some die hards. Personally I don't think there is that much of a difference between the # 1 class or the # 5 class, as long as you are in that top 5 your class is most likely going to be special. I'm just curious as to what LSU chances are at landing the # 1 class and what has to happen for it to be a reality .

Need to have a QB IMHO to really solidify in the fans minds as No. 1. Nevertheless we still have a good chance as we do every year.

If LSU signs 29 as its been reported, then yes. If LSU takes 25 then we'll be #2-#3

If we don't sign a 4-5 star QB, LSU "fans" will melt even with a #1 class.

If we sign Haskins and finish with a #1 class, LSU "fans" will melt just for the hell of it.

They look to be pretty good. Even if we split Fulton/Mullen and land/keep the guys we're expected to, it looks like the odds are strong.

In my opinion- it's great to have the #1 class, but without Haskins we won't fill a position that we need badly which diminshes the class a little bit in my mind. With that said, how fricking great is it to see some game changers in the front seven coming in? DLine U is baaaack!

If we don't lose anybody and sign at least Fulton, Lawrence and Willie Allen, that would get us to 300 points on the 247 composite. Hard to see how we get bumped out of #1 at that point unless Ohio State or Ole Miss land some surprise 5 stars on NSD

It's all relative. People say this because these recruiting classes are given point ratings, and at the end, the top 5 classes tend to be closely grouped. If you wait 4 or 5 years and re-rank based on how the classes performed and how many made the league, the #1 and #5 classes may be far, far apart. It's probably worth a spinoff thread, but there are a few "re-ranking the classes" articles from previous years that would bare this out.

You can look at past USC classes, ranked high from getting a lot of 5* but scholly limits they weren't able to build depth. So they have high point totals but may not have as good of a class as some team that signs 25 players without as many 5* players.

I would say the chances are strong LSU ends up with #1 class. Still have a chance to land Lawrence, Allen, Fulton, and Mullen. Still need a QB and another offensive lineman though.

It is fun to keep up with in January, but if they finish #1 or #2 don't get too caught up in those numbers.

I'll say the list of early enrollments is about as good as i've seen.

I think Georgia ends up with the number 1 class. They could end up with 5 or so 5*. They have a ridiculous amount of instate talent his year and recruited just as well out of state.

UGA has a lot of work to do if they are to end up #1.

tOSU probably has the most potential along with LSU as landing the #1 class.

I can see UGA landing another 4 in the top 100. Not too mention 3 in the top 16 from in state. I believe they are our biggest threat if they land these

I don't agree with this. There is a ginormous difference between 1 and 5. Tennessee had the top 5 class class year I believe, and no way in hell is it close to the class Bama or USC (who was just behind Bama by the smallest of points) pulled in.

We're good at QB for '16. Looking ahead, assuming we get our '16 commits plus Rashard and Christmas-Giles - and then get Shelvin and Marvin Wilson next year, it won't matter who's playing QB '17-'19.
