It's called work study. It's basically a job. You don't say you got your car for free when you worked to pay for it, do you? So to say a kid goes for free, but does work study, is disingenuous.

Dumb comment. If you mean calling people out who don't have any proof of what they are saying, then I stand guilty. If there is one thing I've learned in the last few years with the split is that no one wants to own up to someone else just having a better brand or better coaching. It always has to come down to some mythical advantage another school has. It's a tired trope and excuses other programs from actually looking in the mirror and seeing if there is any other reason why their program is in the dumps.

You can offer athletic & academic scholarships in private high schools...

Actually, IMG claims they don't and it is only financial aid...which would essentially iron out to be full scholarships

quote:

At this time, IMG Academy does not offer scholarships. We do have a limited amount of financial aid available. Recipients are selected based on an academic, athletic, character and financial review. For more information, please reference our admissions page.

bc places play the same tired opponents on their same tired fields and think they're just the best around... Then they used to run up in the playoffs against a John Curtis and learn that it wasn't so

It's not an altruistic endeavor. They are bringing in kids to get the benefit of their football talent. They are only interested in the athlete's success to the extent it helps the school.

This is nothing new. The Catholics had this formula for a number of years. Then the cult of Baptists (such as Evangel) came along - Cause Jesus wanted them to hold their kids back a grade so they'd be better at football and also to help out some poor less fortunate knee-gras (if they were good at football) "a
Chance".

You had a few military "prep"
Schools in the Mix too.

Now IMG, previously the bastion for elitist sports like tennis and golf, has entered the fray for football and baseball. At least they are upfront in what they are instead of trying to hide behind a veil of being "religious".

They ain't in it to help nobody but themselves.

Right because it is $72,000 a year to go there from grade 1-12. Good comparison

He isn't making a direct comparison dumbass. As he said, 8-10K a year is impossible for many of the families that have kids going to these schools.

Guices family came into my work his freshman year. Rolled up in a loaded Caddy SUV and paid an outrageous bill for a watch party. Very nice people.

They either had money before hand, or we have some bagmen we don't want to talk about.

Ask schools where tuitions is 8-10k?

Seriously? My nephew attended there (John Curtis) free. Sister didn't have pot to piss in. But he was a 2 sport athlete. There called it a student/work tuition program. He said he washed a chalk board 1 once a week.

If working at McDonalds miraculously afforded me 100,000 dollar educations, then something is clearly coming for free. And I doubt these work studies do nearly as much work as McDonald's workers
