I read it like this. He doesnt want to stay in town longer than he has too b/c he is going to Bama. He is going to shorten the backlash time by announcing as late as possible. I hope I'm wrong.

Yes, Memphis is a great source of info.

As far as Hootie Jones is concerned, as long as he winds up signing with LSU he can push his announcement date as far back as he wants. However, since he plans to graduate next month and enroll in college for the spring semester, it seems like he can't push it back much further.

You're making his argument for him. Hootie could just wait and show up at the school instead of announcing at all. Then he wouldn't face any backlash because he'd already on campus.
