Ok i guess I'll be "that guy".....

It's great to add depth and competition and all..... But who in the hell thinks he beats out Collins? Not I. Nice depth, which matters.... This fella ain't starting though.

This guy will be on the line in 2013 with Collins and Chris Faulk. That is a lot of beef.

Edit: Is he the first Samoan LSU football player?

TC McCartney is half-Samoan through his father, the late Sal Aunese.

Fanaika isn't Samoan. He is Tongan. Hopefully you geography whizzes know the difference between the island nation of Samoa and the island nation of Tonga.

He's going to redshirt this year.

quote:

"They gave me an option to redshirt and I'd most likely redshirt," Fanaika said. "It helps me get used to the speed of the game, catch up on playbook and get ready for the next two years after that. Other schools would let me play right away while LSU gave me a choice. I don't have any problem sitting out."

quote:

a 6-foot-6, 340-pounder, ticketed to play guard where he played for the past two years and earned All-American honors.

I don't know where the talk about him playing center is coming from.

LSU fans will have to get ready for the Tongan Tiger. For what is believed to be the first time in the program's storied history LSU will have a player of Tongan heritage on its roster

"He's a Tiger," said College of San Mateo assistant head coach Tim Tulloch, who plans to fax all of Fanaika's paperwork to LSU on Friday

Thanks for posting the vid. He is nasty. He doesn't quit driving until his guy is down. I really like his explosion too. Great pick up.

This is what we've been missing in our recruting: a Tonga pipeline!
We could be dominant in that part of the South Pacific!

I was thinking the same thing. Glad HE wants to redshirt. It'll give him time to go up against All-SEC D Linemen in practice and get use to SEC football

He has a very mature outlook about redshirting.
