2016 looks much better in comparison. Still too much attrition, though.

Landon’s mom also wanted him to stay home

Rant logic explained.

Drew Brees is short.
Drew Brees is a great qb
Therefore, short gbs will be great qbs

Landon Collins mother wanted him to go to LSU
Landon Collins went to Alabama
Therefore, mothers have no influence on where their children want to go

If the original post is true that Sopsher’s mom wants him playing near his home, then I think that elevates LSUs chances a lot. With most recruits, their parents have a lot of influence with their choice.

Sure, it’s no guarantee. But on average, tall qbs will do way better than short ones and moms will greatly influence where their kids go to school.

Agreed, Sopsher's mom won't ultimately dictate where he goes. Its going to be on him, and trust me when I say the depth at Alabama doesn't concern him.

Also I do not think hes gonna translate to a DE in a 3-4 defense, I think he will be a true nose. That 30-40 pounds he would need to lose would be tough. Hes build a lot like Shelvin, but at a better weight and more athletic off the snap.

The tail end of this recruiting cycle is going to be pretty crazy, things could go really well or terribly for LSU when it comes to these last 5-7 recruits. I still don't see Ish being in this class though, but it still can be a good one.

Some would say that's more of a reason not to waste a scholarship.

He will if the better player is worth it. Or do you think he saw something in LANARD Fournette that made Bama the only other P-5 program besides Miami and LSU to offer him a scholarship?

Well I guess time will tell. The picks for Sopsher to go to Alabama are now rolling in from a lot of moderators on 247 sites who, while never perfectly correct, do make their living on supposed inside information.

In the other corner we have random dude from internet who talked to someone who knows Rodney’s dad as Slob who says it’s in the works for Sosher to go to LSU.

It would be quite the upset if random internet dude turns out to have the better source, but stranger things have happened. I’m in, it’s not like I lose anything for guessing wrong

How many times have we won a recruiting battle because the mother wanted LSU over another school when that was the only saving grace pointing towards us?

14 times?

It’s kind of a trick question because if it’s an La kid, the mom is rarely ever the only saving grace. Any kid who is from La and is highly recruited with an offer to LSU will have any number of friends and family who want them to stay in state.

This is no absolute with this. Some kids do only what their moms want, a few do the opposite. For most kids, the mom and dad have some influence in the decision.

We should just keep thinking he's going to Bama and be surprised/happy if he doesn't

Exactly. The rules force attrition if you sign a full class every year. 100 guys every 4 years for 85 spots if no one redshirts. Granted, LSU has high attrition but I still think you make the numbers work if it helps you get a guy who can help make Bama one-dimensional on offense.

Said this many times and I'll say it again. He's not worth 2 ships. He needs major motivation to play at the next level. I think he's going to be a bust. With the way the dline recruiting has been since 2011, I wouldn't be shocked. Not like O has put great d-lineman out there since he took over. They can't even put Shelvin on the field hardly. Lawrence has flashes of that 5* image then looks incredibly mediocre. Fehoko was overrated offseason hype.

People get way too hung up on *. I'd rather finish the class with the other dline we have on the board. Physically he has it there but he has a long way to go in putting it all together when he has spurts even at the HS level he can't dominate.

I agree! I don’t think we will have to worry about it cause he isn’t going to qualify. I’ve seen him play 2 times this year amd he isn’t near a 5 star! No way I’d give his brother a scholarship just get him!

Noted. Thankfully people making the decisions have the opposite opinion. Only time will tell who's is correct.
