Yeah and I bet everyone thought the same about Teddy Bridgewater, went after Jefferson instead or the Mississippi kid that left.

Bridgewater was a 2011 recruit, Jefferson was 2008 and Garrett was 2009. IIRC we were after EJ Manuel, but Jimbo, who had started recruiting him here, got him to FSU, so we signed JJ.

He's ok for Cincy, not SEC caliber QB. 52 Comp % against Big East D's.

I'm pretty sure they decided not to offer RG3 also

Hindsight is always 20/20, but he was committed to Houston, then went to Baylor with Art Briles.
Texas fans have much more to question about RGIII.

QB recruiting was a big issue for this staff since the start. After getting RP in 2005 it was very qustionable. However, they have done much better the last 3 years: 2011 signed Mettenberger, the top juco QB, plus project QB Rivers: 2012 they got a committment from 5* Kiel. He was literally at or on his way to the airport to fly to BR to start classes when he changed his mind. 2013: signed 2 very good prospects in Jennings and Rettig. 2014 they are in on a couple of good prospects and have yet to offer Harris. All signs point to them signing at least 1 QB in this class, which i think is a great move. Need at least 1 QB in every class imo. So the QB course has been corrected, we'll see if how they perform.

I saw an interview with Munchie, he said something like "LSU recruited me as a WR, and I liked the school a lot, but I'm not fast enough to play WR for them." Then he started laughing.

Seems like a good kid, I hope he keeps improving at Cincy.

I wasn't disagreeing, just adding to what you said.

I thought it was a cool story when he talked about it. And you could tell there was no hard feelings with him.

You go ahead and set me straight son!! I'm not defending anyone or school I'm simply sayn that we have passed up on some good in state and OOS guys we should of prob offered I mean I think he's worth a good look and looks like the staff is lookn at him closely so... but seems like lots of people put him down for reasons I don't get? He never said lots of things people say he did, in the quote it sounds like that BUT if you read the WHOLE article it sounds much diff! He sounds like a good kid that if is looked at seriously will be at any camp and like I said Cam told him that he would visit so... Would be a good Athletic QB with confidence if anything a great backup to whom ever, can never have enough talent at QB. And my point on TB was that I don't think we seriously looked at him, and he turned out ok. And Legneaux is playn D1 FB isn't he and doing well not super but well. I think confidence and a want to get better is huge with QBs IMO.

I know, just reading that comment by him, i thought i should clarify, since he very well could be an SEC caliber athlete.

To the original topic, I read Cameron is visiting Harris this week to watch him throw,

wait wha? You mean LSU is going out to SPRING PRACTICE to evaluate him? I highly doubt that, compadre. I think Cameron is just making the trip to Bossier to shake Harris down for the $400 he'll owe for summer camp. Only competent staffs like Alabama evaluate players at SPRING PRACTICE and watch actual game film.

I know he got a bama offer, but I just don't see him as a QB there. How many snaps has he even taken under center? I see Saban getting him in there, throwing the book at him, then moving him to safety.

I just watched all of his hudl high lights again. 2 snaps from under center in them so he's done it.

Is he that good of an athlete that Saban would want him at safety? I mean, LSU and Bama recruit the best of the best from the pool of DB recruits...seems odd to use a precious spot on a QB from Bossier who evidently has never played safety. But I guess if he's that good of an athlete...

There was a Bama fan in here earlier who basically laid it out. David Cornwell is their #1 guy right now but they want to get him to camp and see him in the context of having other talented QBs. Harris is one of those guys they want to bring in this summer to throw. Best man wins the job. Really no different than what LSU would like to do, but you wouldn't know it hearing from what LeagueCity and even Harris himself have to say about LSU's approach.

Harris gets offer from Alabama
I DO hope Saban visits and is on the field too long so the Principal has him arrested, like they did Tut Musmeche.

Yes! She straight up made Musmeche a millionaire. I saw tape the night it happened and her interview. She came off looking bad.

Thinking about this, if Dobard is the model for guys wanting to go out of state, Munchie sounds like the model for guys LSU passes on. No hard feelings, he goes to another D1 school and gets to play QB like he wanted to.

All LSU has to do with this kid is give him an "uncommitable" verbal offer and then he could very well change his mind and camp at LSU if he is really interested in LSU. That's exactly what Alabama has done with him and he took it hook line and sinker, and apparently some on staff at his HS did as well.

It's laughable to watch how staffs manipulate and deceive so they can buy themselves time with prospects and try to get the best available at every position. It's a business plain and simple.

White lies and deception are very important aspects in recruiting and some staffs are very good at it.

Because Alabama can pull a scholarship offer and it won't come back to haunt them.

Its not as easy to burn instate bridges when you're the instate school. We do the same thing to Texas kids.

Exactly. Bama will probably wait until Cornhole makes his intentions clear before taking another QB.

its funny how
quote:

Bossier City (La.) Parkway quarterback Brandon Harris has picked up quite a few offers this spring. He became only the third quarterback in the class to be offered by Ohio State and the Buckeyes have his interest piqued.

We are interested in Ohio's DeShone Kizer.

LSU wants Ohio's QB, tOSU want's Louisiana's QB
