I think you have a good shot at the "excuses award." You'd be a lock had you thrown in "afraid of competition."

Who is Glen Guilbeau and why do we care?

This class is good but could've been a lot better, if not for a few surprises along the way. I'm not upset with it but not thrilled either.

He's a douche. I'm from Shreveport and don't read his garbage.

Guilbeau is on point. There is not one guy here that wouldn't trade our class for Texas' or Alabama's in a heartbeat. Truth hurts.

Dandy Don's take. Hard to argue with it.
"Good morning, Tiger Fans. It was nice meeting and speaking to so many of you yesterday at the Recruiting Bash."
"Yesterday LSU signed 22 players for the 2012 signing class. In all, it's not a bad class, but there's no denying that it didn't end as strongly as we had hoped. Early in the day there was the good news of outside linebacker Kwon Alexander from Oxford (AL) signing with the Tigers, but the good news was overshadowed later in the day by Torshiro Davis (DE/LB, 6'6", 250, Woodlawn of Shreveport) flipping from LSU to Texas. It was also disappointing to see JUCO wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson choose Tennessee, and cornerback Trae Elston choose Ole Miss."
"The class does a good job of meeting team needs, but the thing I find most concerning is that LSU lost out on three of the top players in the state. The three I'm referring to, of course, are Landon Collins and Denzell Devall who went to Alabama, and Torshiro Davis who went to Texas. The state of Louisiana is going to be filled with talent for the 2013 signing class (see my list), and it will be very important for LSU to recruit the state more intensely this year and not let as many big fish get away."

When Kwon Alexander made his announcement,Davis decided to sign with Texas as he was afraid of competition from the #3 rated Alexander. That should lock it up.Fixed.

One last time for sheep like you.
Kiel - if you even followed 1/10th of his recruitment you would know that the kid has been all over the place. He first lists OU/bama as his 1 and 2. He then commits to freaking Indiana. You're telling me that the #1 QB in all of HS football is going to go to Indiana? Give me a freaking break. So now, LSU is the clear #1, he wants to get back in the limelight, so he states he's coming here. Then pulls a complete 180 and chooses ND out of nowhere? He was NEVER coming here. And another thing, he did not want to compete for playing time.
Collins - He's stated he's been all bama for 2 years, not to mention he was following his high school trim there.
Devall - does not fit our defensive system. Nothing more, nothing less.
Davis - like it's been said over, and over. He was the only one that was a shock to lose.
Everyone else's recruitment played out exactly like it was going to from the beginning.

To be honest, the douchebag has a point. LSU is an elite program who just completed a 13-1 record, SEC Championship, and a BCS title game appearance. LSU should be at least bringing in top 10 talent.
BUT, Miles seems to be a different recruiter then most coaches. We have loaded up at LB, a position that has been the weak spot of the defense for a few years now. We signed two very good receivers in Johnson and Dural who will likely see immediate playing time and once again reloading in the secondary with Raymond and Thompson.
I agree with the douchebag, it's not a top 10 class, and LSU should be reeling in top 10 classes. But it's not an average class, Miles has addressed some immediate needs with this class.
2013 will be a top 5 class.

This is a spot-on perspective.
This is a good class - but not up to our standards over the last few years.

What's disturbing to me is the cold shoulder so many top rated recruits gave us this year? Couple that with what senior players were saying as they a few weeks ago, something just doesn't feel right with the atmosphere of the program. I really believe the JJ/JL situation really took it's toll on the program's prestige a little bit on the national stage.

i see the term "sunshine pumper" is making a comeback. why, i don't know....but i like it.

That was kind of the reaction I got from the class as well. Granted we picked up some good players, but if I didn't know the year, I would think this was 1997 and not 2012. Considering the run we had the last two years, this class is an absolute embarrassment. I personally think Miles finally got exposed and now more and more recruits and high school coaches think he is a loon

Like when preseason he predicted LSU to make the national championship game? Yeah that was real chicken little.
Ofcourse in that piece he made the mistake of thinking Mettenberger would get some play given he was our best QB and all so clearly his judgement into Miles logic is deficient.
