Enough can't be said about the way Miles came in and stole this kid away from Bama.

After watching the ESPN 30 for 30 - Broke...it's good to know he is getting sound advice regarding football as its true as these guys can't play forever and a career is important post football days.

Would hate to see him going down that path as it was tough to watch for a couple of the guys on there...

No worries! I will make sure he doesn't follow that path! If you ever hear that Garrett Brumfield made it to the NFL, made a ton of money, and now he's broke you can bet I am no longer alive! We have had all the talks about partying, fast cars and fast women, trying to keep up with the Jones', etc! We've talked about how to handled the relatives and friends that will have their hand out. Hell, it's started already with people begging for tickets and he hasn't even enrolled at LSU yet! At 17 yrs old he knows how to think for himself and use the things I have taught him. The teaching and support will continue for as long as I am alive and for as long as he needs me. I've already told him if he ever has a problem telling someone NO, just direct them to me! I will have no problem whatsoever saying NO!

Enough good things cannot be said about this young man! He is "The Man" on that team! I really don't feel they would have had the success they've had the last two seasons without him leading the offensive line! All those yards and touchdowns Brossette got last year came from running behind Brumfield! Hopefully the same will occur when he suits up in the purple and gold! Players like him have EARNED their place in this recruiting class through their play and work ethic!

quote:

Class Act! With all the attention on the U-High football players that started with Tim Williams, then Nicholas Brossette, now Dylan Moses, after reading this article you can tell who the REAL leader of that team is! Kid has class! He and his folks don't brag and boast, he just goes out and gets the job done! He earned it on the field and in the classroom through hard work! I can see a lot of the current class of 2014 prospects dragging things out for no reason other than to gain attention! I see it coming from others behind this class as well! As Garrett's dad called them, "media hounds"! I can see Garrett anchoring the LSU O-Line for three years, winning a couple of championships with the Tigers while being named All-SEC, and becoming a 1st round NFL draft pick! Don't underestimate him! Some of the up and coming players and their parents could learn a thing or two from this family! Bravo Wildman and Garrett!
Thanks for the compliments guys! Garrett has worked very hard and continues to do so! Because of the position he plays he understands that he doesn't always get the glory the pretty boy skill players get. But, he's happy with what he does and doesn't seek out the spotlight. Like I stated in the article, we aren't media hounds. All attention is not good attention! Sometimes the attention can place an unnecessary target on a player and cause others to take cheap shots due to jealousy. We never wanted that. I didn't want him to have people taking cheap shots at him and risk him getting injured unnecessarily. The game for a lineman is hard enough with that added pressure. I'm sure Nick Brossette understands the importance of having Garrett and the rest of the linemen blocking for him. Garrett has one season left to block for the pretty boy ball carriers at U-High . I have no idea what upcoming lineman maybe coming from the middle school ranks, but they won't have big number 77 to clear the way for them anymore!

You and your son have earned the compliments. For those of us who follow recruiting closely, we see a lot of the bad antics, poor behavior, weak roll models, and the false glamour shine that fades away.

Its very refreshing to see that your family and your son have the right attitude. He was raised the correct way, and its obvious in the way he holds himself in his interviews and how he has handled his recruitment. I dont doubt that he will be successful regardless of what happens with football because he was brought up well.

Im sure I speak for more than myself in expressing that Im very happy he is a part of the LSU family. I know you received similar sales pitches from all the coaching staffs, but I honestly believe Miles is more than just a good coach; he is an amazing person and family man. I would have told you Saban was a great coach at LSU, but all of us realists know he isnt a great man.

I believe your son will thrive under Miles' tutelage, and wish nothing but the best for you and your family moving forward. Congratulations and keep up the good work
