No. 1 basketball recruit in the state for 2017 looks like he's switching schools. He's picked up an offer from LSU and a couple of other schools already it looks like. Don't know if he'll be eligible to play his junior season, though. LINK /

Program is been on the rise since starting. Lost to Madison Prep in state final last season, but MP moved up to 2A I think. So with that squad mostly coming back they'll probably when a state title.

Prep hoops are beyond tainted

Methinks that this is another blatant example

It's really going to suck for the kid if he's not eligible to play because of a transfer he didn't really need to do.

With direct family members involved in that school I can with certainty tell u they recruit the shite out of their b-ball kids.

It is possible that his parents value education and saved up money to send him to a good private school....

Or he gets 2 years of private school pretty much free of charge because he's really good at sports.

I'm pretty sure private schools can give "educational" scholarships so I wouldn't doubt if he got at least a discount. But as far as we know his family could be rolling in money

I'm sure that may be the case. I'm just wondering why wait until his Jr. year of high school to put him in a private school if you could afford it? Just seems a bit odd.

Probably got a "educational" scholarship then.

Either scenario is very possible but I'll say the vast majority of kids that make that move fall into the second category.

They could have moved up to 2A this year but chose not to to stay in 1A for another year. (lhsaa gave them a few years to do that)

They will end up in trouble sooner or later. They are dirty and not very good at it. You can't piss in everyone's cheerios in the area.

Fwiw, the family is moving to so he should be eligible with no issue.

FWIW, it's not that simple. They still have to prove that they didn't move for athletic purposes. LHSAA has denied situations like this in the past, where a family rents an apartment or trailer in the private's zone to try and obtain eligibility. They claim that the move was athletic and not academic and force the kid to sit.

I wish Galen the best and hope he gets to play this year, but wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't. Regardless, he will be fun to watch in the future.
